Can anyone tell me when their BO layed her first egg also the silver laced?

Today I noticed 2 other hens going in the nesting boxes this morning and setting for about 2-3 minutes on the eggs that I have in thier... so maybe soon I will be collecting more than 2 eggs a day. I have a RIR and BR laying now, seems like my other RIR and BR are getting ready to fall in line. My BO, Silver Laced, and Brahmas looks like they are not at all interested. They are all 22weeks.

Congrats to all that got their 1st egg. I know how exciting it is!!!! Can't wait till ALL my girls are laying.

My BA didnt lay her 1st til she was 29 weeks. They all seem to be starting later then normal. I still have 6 more other breeds from 25 weeks down to 14 weeks. Still waiting

oh my goodness... the only thing cuter than pics of chicks, pics of chickens by kids, only thing cuter than that pics of cats & chickens... only thing cuter than that pics of kids and chickens!! i still have 150 unread posts, and am looking forward to seeing the 1000th post! but every time i start to read my computer kicks me off and there are so many more to read... so in case i don't get to the end today i thought i would write a quick note to say hello and happy monday! & happy egg hunting!

Only 2 eggs so far today. The cold weather has definitely affected laying. Maybe I'll start keeping a chart to track at. I am finally getting more eggs than I'm eating though, so that's a plus. I let the chickens free range today. They don't usually go out in the snow, but I guess they're sick and tired of the coop. It's hilarious watching chickens try to run through 8 inches of snow!

I'm looking at my chicks today. They are 10 days old, and I can already tell I have a TON of roosters. I have the worst luck with hatching roosters. Every hatch last year was about 75-80% roosters. Grrr. I was hoping for a bunch of lovely dark egg layers. I think I'm going to set a new batch of eggs in 2 weeks. EEs this time.

See you sure they are roosters? Last year we culled 2 birds I was sure were roosters, until I saw mature rirs... incredibly frustrating.

I don't know what is was about today, but everyone has been tired. The chickens didn't even grumble too much when I hoisted them onto the roost.
Wow brooster, if you could only get 75-80% pullets you would be set.

So, I had a rough evening. We were looking at getting meat birds this spring. We wanted to look up the maximum # of birds we are allowed. When we got out chicks last year we looked and it said something like 55 chickens per acre. But we wanted to be sure, memories can be fuzzy. So I looked again, it says minimum of 3 acres. We only have 1 acre. So now to legally keep my 4 hens I have to get the neighbors to sign saying the chickens don't bother them, get the health department to come out and apply for some kind of waiver. I wanted to get a few more hens and meat birds. Hubby is in the Navy and doesn't want to get in trouble for breaking the law. Grrr, sniffle sniffle.

That sounds pretty strict. Not sure where you live, but I would double and triple check. I live in an HOA community in Phoenix AZ and have no where near an acre. We are permitted to have the 3 chicks I have and even more. (all I wanted was the three) We do live in the wild west. So to speak. Hoping all works out in your favor.

because I think I am gonna get more eggs today. I just can feel it!!!!

I have been getting 2 eggs for the past 2 weeks. Yesterday I graduated to 3!!!!!

. I will report when I get home this afternoon. I am looking for 4 today!!!!
