oh no! so sorry to hear that. We had bad news today too. My Mom in Laws Wiener dog passed away today.I am so upset......
My hens all seem to be sick. Very swollen abdomens... all of them which seems pretty strange to me. They all cant be egg bound. So I read up about fluid getting in there. Here is the thing hubby saw a rat and decided to just throw out poison. He didnt think about the hens.... this was about 3-4 days ago. I found out today he did so. I did research on here about poisoning. Really not sure if they got into it or not. I dont have any vets here who is specialist in birds.. I dont know what to do. I do feel like crying..... I dont want to loose my girls. He hates rats but throwing out w/o a care makes me want to scream at him......... I always treat the yard for rats but I use one that my chickens cant get in.
That is great! Congratulations debbie! I just love when I get the full count of eggs on a day. I am filling cartons quickly, I find myself wondering how long they are going to keep this up! So happy for you!
US,,, what a horrible worry! So sorry! Firsts off, have they been eating or drinking at all? I feel that if indeed they had ingested the rat poisen 3 to 4 days ago, they would be gone by now. They also would be drinking an incredible amount. How are their stools? I'm sorry that you have to go through this. Please keep us posted as to their condition. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. {{hug}}I am so upset......

Oh so sorry to hear this as well. Been hearing about so many dog losses. Hope your MIL will be ok.oh no! so sorry to hear that. We had bad news today too. My Mom in Laws Wiener dog passed away today.
Rat poison is hard stuff. We had a dog that the vet swears got into it once, even though we are VERY careful to be sure they are never in the building that has the poison, but that is another long story for another day. I know this may seem silly, but do they have access to grit? Is the abdomen swollen and squishy or hard? Any funny odor or strange poo?I am so upset......
