This isn't ultra important but I love figuring out genetics in the world of poultry. In April, this cockerel had hatched. His name is Buster. His father is a Buff Brahma/Delaware/Dorking... and his mother could be one of three options, the following; Salmon Faverolle, Speckled Sussex or Blue Cochin. What do you think? I know the game of guessing in genetics can be rather uncertain... but I enjoy the challenge.
Distinguishing genetics: Lightly feathered legs, pea comb, white shanks.
Please forgive me- the coop needs a cleaning and Inde (the hen on the left) went through a big molt.
Then there is the (assumed!) cockerel I haven't named yet... his father is a Buff Brahma/Delaware/Dorking and his mother could be one of the above options also.
Distinguishing genetics: Single comb from grandfather, feathered legs, white shanks, Delaware barring.
