Got a laying hen that stopped laying and turned male. Now it’s crowing. I’d like to rehome it here on Oahu. Beautiful bird.

Actually a female won't turn male. She just may have stepped up to the plate to protect a roosterless flock. I've had a few girls crow b4 getting roos. It is cute ♡Got a laying hen that stopped laying and turned male. Now it’s crowing. I’d like to rehome it here on Oahu. Beautiful bird.

I'd say it is more role reversal than a sex reversal myself and glancing at the article I'd say we are on par. My hens reverted back to a more traditional role after a short while. Sorry your housemates arnt enjoying the wonder of it all. Chicken keeping is not for everyone.https://poultry.extension.org/artic...n-chickens-kept-in-small-and-backyard-flocks/
See the link. My hen has gone through sex reversal and consequently gotten bigger, developed a larger comb, and started crowing. She’s expressing male characteristics. Phenotypically male. This is after 2+ years as a typical laying hen. My housemates can’t deal with crowing at 4:30am. She used to pair up with another hen. Now “she” struts around like she owns the place, quite a change.
