Any other hawaiians out there?

Actually a female won't turn male. She just may have stepped up to the plate to protect a roosterless flock. I've had a few girls crow b4 getting roos. It is cute ♡

See the link. My hen has gone through sex reversal and consequently gotten bigger, developed a larger comb, and started crowing. She’s expressing male characteristics. Phenotypically male. This is after 2+ years as a typical laying hen. My housemates can’t deal with crowing at 4:30am. She used to pair up with another hen. Now “she” struts around like she owns the place, quite a change.

I'd say it is more role reversal than a sex reversal myself and glancing at the article I'd say we are on par. My hens reverted back to a more traditional role after a short while. Sorry your housemates arnt enjoying the wonder of it all. Chicken keeping is not for everyone.
My DH likes to complain about my chooks too, while ignoring his own dogs similar and sometimes worse behavior... with no egg and fertilizer benefits. He has managed to suffer through all of the omelets and quiches through the years. With so many ferals ready to fill in the blanks I find it all a bit laughable
