We fly most of our breeds.... owl, valeciana thief, norwich, voorburg, owl and racers (they're the ones keeping the others on their wing)...

The modenas and mondains stay inside most time.

They know where home is. They like their own roost and territory so once they become acclimated somewhere they usually come back. That being said...not a great idea to buy old homers and let them out...they will go home! I know several guys that have sold the same bird couple three times!

You are so right. I find that my breeds that dont like to fly will fly because of the rollers flying.

I also think that loft kept birds will not fly unless allowed free flight from birth. My adult ice pigeons will not leave the loft but the ones I raised fly well, even taking off for 2-3 days at a time. I put my indian fantails in a rabbit hutch after weaning and opened the door ever day. I also waited to feed them til close to roost time. That way they go out and peck around looking for tidbits and grit. I never had any luck getting norwich or voorburgs to fly, but cross them together and man you get a flier!

rollers, ice pigeons and homer/roller(can you pick her out lol?)
