Any small animal better than raising guinea pig for meat?

Geese can be noisy with strangers, which is good and bad. Violent, I think there's one month a year when you have to leave them alone. But there is a newer breed, American Buff, that is supposed to be calmer. And there are mini-geese.

You need a LOT of green forage (grass, kudzu etc.) to feed guinea pigs. Guinea pigs do best in places where grass grows nearly year-round.

Guinea pig is HUMAN food in South America, and it is rather expensive. It is a holiday and weekend delicacy, not everyday food.

If you only have one dog and one cat, you can probably do it if you're in a location with long springs.

If you have more than one dog, there are too many carnivores to be self-sustainable. Your family comes first and any extra dogs need to be fed on outside (store-bought) food.

Most farms have way more dogs than necessary. No wonder they can't feed the human family plus four or five dogs from farm resources. More than one dog is simply too many carnivores.
