Hi Everyone!

We recently purchased the No Crow Collar for our bantam cochin rooster. I'm really hoping that it can help with the crowing to some degree, as we aren't allowed roosters where we live and he is very bonded to one of the other chickens in our flock.

I'm wondering if anyone has any tips for rooster collars and bantams, particularly bantam cochins? His neck is quite short, so there's not a lot of wiggle room in terms of where to place it. I've been tightening it slightly each day and its at the point now where I don't want to strangle him - but STILL he seems to manage to crow.

Is there any hope? Or are there tips and tricks out there for collars on smaller varieties of chickens?

I've never used a rooster collar and hope I don't have to!
But I've read plenty of horror stories of people strangling their roosters and finding them dead in the coop in the morning by trying to stop the crowing.
I don't believe that is the intention of the collars. I think they are really designed to just reduce the volume and frequency of crowing.
Trying to control stimulus that triggers crowing can additionally reduce the frequency. You'd have to watch him to learn what his triggers are. Some roosters are just very vocal.
