Anybody else Equestrian or Horse-lover?

Yup and it pays some bills. I think I am one of the few western working horse riders/trainers around here though.

Me too!

I am down to 1 after I was injured (non horse related) I found a new home for my gelding and now just have the mare. I do hope to one day get another one or three!

*raises hand*

From what I've noticed about people I come into contact with, you either are or you ain't...there's no "oh I sorta like horses." Ha. I've been "horsecrazy" my entire life. My noble steed is a 9yo straight Spanish Arabian mare, Lilly (gestures at avatar). We do trails and are looking into amateur endurance.
We're uh..."in the market" for another horse, preferably a nice calm gelding to be her trailbuddy.

Love her to death. She has such a sense of humour. <3

I love horses, I just don't have any

I keep asking for a pony for Christmas but all I get are the crummy plastic ones

I think the term "horse lover" doesn't quite go far enough. Horse-obsessed comes close...but still doesn't really encompass the full extent of the problem. My husband agrees - it's more than an obsession - it's my life. My mom can never figure out where I came from (none of my family members are big fans of animals.

Anyway, here are my beloved horses - past and present:

My horse-of-a-lifetime - my Morgan J.L.'s Leding Act 1 (aka Pogo - for his bone jarring trot). Classic Pleasure riding & driving (Reserve World Champion as a 4 year old)...and the worlds BEST equitation horse ever!

But that's not why I loved him so much - it was for his good heart, cheerful attitude, can-do attitude, and he was the most people-centered horse I ever had. He was an absolute joy - and I miss him every day.

I also had a really nice Saddlbred (Bourbon's Lucky Streak) gelding. He was a GREAT ride, but he was a stark-raving-lunatic. I sold him to a younger competitor at our barn ho had no fear. Here he is showing in Country Pleasure (my attempt to bring him down-to-earth).

Now I have a wonderfu Norwegian Fjord gelding, Siggy, who is my primary riding/driving horse. There are no words to express how much I love this silly horse! He never has a bad day & is always happy with life. He has a great work ethic and is one of the best beginner lesson horses I have ever known - he loves kids and has the patience of Job.

...and because I'm addicted to American Saddlebreds, this is "Who's That Guy" (aka Stanley) that we got last May...he's turned out to be a real gem. He's 15-18 years old, and seems to have come from Amish brok (broke but not really well trained)....

I would rather clean stalls in 90F heat than sit at my desk-job in the Air Conditioning. I would rather groom my horse than clean my house. I would rather clean tack than clean my fridge. I would rather fall asleep listening to the contented sounds of happy horses than stay at a 5 star hotel.

....and all of this is just the begining!

Add me to the list! I am now down to three Arabians, but have had horses most of my life. Used to do a little breeding, a little showing. My Khemosabi son, 26 years old now, is the light of my life, next to my DH, and his two companions did their stint as excellent broodmares. I cannot imagine life without them. I also consider lawn to be wasted pasture space.

What marvelous horses you have! I love Fjords...we're looking at one tomorrow, fingers crossed the weather doesn't get a mind of it's own. Wonderful breed.

And I hear ya, I too would rather be covered in horse hair and sweat, with goop hanging off my muckers, snot smeared across my clothing and hay in my hair, than sitting pretty in front of a computer all day!

Edit - then and than, why does that always slip...

I'm a Saddlebred/Morgan person at heart...but these Fjords really steal your heart - and I'll never be without one, now!

You won't be sorry! I want ANOTHER one!!! I'm keeping my eyes open for another - but they aren't that common here in Florida (58 registerd here and my breeder owns 20 of those!!! And she didn't breed this year, so not much available).

Ohhhh! I hope the weather holds out for you - post pics if you get him/her!

I'm an equine lover!

My horse is a grulla APHA mare. I also have 4 miniatures (although I plan to down size in the spring). We also have a palomino overo APHA gelding, that is pretty much our everybody horse, and a roan spotted molly mule that I am currently training to drive and will probably be putting her up for sale.

we have 8 full time pasture ornaments and 1 who is ridden 4 or 5 times a year. 2 thouroughbreds, 2 quarter horses, a mini, a burro and a mustang from the BLM, a clydesdale, and a Tennessee Walker.
