I guess I have been lucky so far. Most of the roos OI have were bought that way
I have hatched (between me and my hens) 47 chicks so far. Out of these, there are 20 that I can tell on. They are 15 pullets and 5 roos. The others are either way to little, or to fast to see!! But I did buy a hen with 15 chicks earlier this summer, 8 roos and 7 pullets, 5 of which have since died.
our first batch we hatched out, we had 2 pullets, and 2 roos. our next batch is still in question, but i think we've got 4 pullets and 2 roos...hoping it stays that way too.
We got six chicks, and it looks like four are roos, one is *maybe* a pullet, and the other two are younger and too hard to tell. But of the Welsummer chicks, 3 out of 4 look like roosters. I'm so sad because I can't keep any of them, since I live in a suburb.
