Anybody else waiting 'till spring?

I'm waiting til spring, only because my bantam cochins are only 11 weeks old, and I can't afford to buy an incubator. So hopefully my cochin girls will go broody VERY soon after they start laying, and I can buy my silkie eggs that I'm dying to get...

I'm trying so hard to wait.....

I'm not sure if I can hold out til spring though.

Just think, if you start now you will have eggs by summer.

DH didn't want me to hatch any this year.
But silly me, I 'volunteered' to do some test-hatches for some nice folks on BYC

Thankfully, I have homes for the ones we can't fit, if I have a wonderfully successful hatch

Oh I love, love, love the volunteer idea! We are, after all, living in the Volunteer State! And I have a couple of people interested in some Silver Spangled Hamburgs as soon as I have extras. I planned on ordering some SSH pullets this spring but I think I should get some eggs also.

I'm waiting for March. My house has wood heat and huge temperature swings, so I think waiting for spring is practical. I've never risked a brooder outside. Boy, it's hard to be practical!
