Anybody Ever Use WAZINE 17%?

Bum crawling with worms sound more like flystrike, so those would be maggots. :sick Be sure to clean the vent area very well.
Roger that.. It's a hutch on the opposite side of our farm designed for nothing but quarantine. Nothing fancy.. But segregates unsure sick birds. People drop off chickens here a lot. They think were a shelter or what not. We usually nurse them back to health and sell them to help with the cost of our feed and such.
Thank you!

Be sure to check the vent of all birds for maggots, and check all of them for lice and mites, too.

Roger that.. Dusted them day one.. But will check the results soon. They had lice. Really bad. Covered in fecal. The owner seemed to never clean the cage they were locked in. Poultry is a responsibility not a fad or niche. Oh well. Not going to preach..

It will only treat large roundworms. It will not treat cecal worms, capillary worms, gape worms, tape worms, or any of the other worms poultry get, and it will only treat large roundworms if they drink enough medicated water.
It was on a clearance shelf this morning when I went to the feed store. $2 down from $7.99.
Date was good. So here we are.......

Can you post some photos of your rescues?

I agree with Kathy, it sounds like Flystrike.

You mention that the birds are in rough shape, had poop on them as well as lice/mites?
How are you treating this?

If they still have a lot of poop on them, it would be best to give them a bath. Get a tub of soapy water (Original Dawn works well) and give them a soaking and work the poop out of the feathers. If poop is encrusted, you may need to trim it out.

Wet feathers allow you to see the skin easily - check them over well for any wounds, cuts or places that may be infested with maggots. The bath may help drown some of the lice/mites, but once the birds are dry, give them a treatment with a permethrin based poultry dust or spray. It wouldn't hurt to treat the housing they are in too. Repeat treatment in 7-10days or follow the manufactures label.

Since they are in rough shape. Offer them some extra vitamins and a "high" protein feed like Chick Starter or an all flock type feed.

Just my thoughts:)

Washed then allowed to dry. Then dusted, then wormed. Checked this morning. Eating like horses. One had an eye closed when we got them. It is open now. Re filled the hydro container with more electrolytes. Will re dust Sunday. Never going into my population. Will rehome them and make the new owner aware of the circumstances and history. All hens. All buffs. All doing better except to poor one under our pecan tree.

:woot

Never took pics of the nastyness. Something we are trying to forget. We are animal lovers and it was a disgusting nightmare. I think animal control would have destroyed them.
