is there 7 of them?

Well we have two that are pipping and peeping.
Have all of you had them sitting in an egg crate or carton ?

do they hatch better if laying down where they can roll?

How long does it usually take for them to peck out?

I have had better luck with them in egg cartons. Cut the bottoms out of the cups so they can get air circulation. Some chicks if they have been rolled around in the eggs too much can get confused as to where the air cell is and pip the wrong place.
If they are in the cartons the new chicks can't roll them around. The chicks have no problems plopping out of the cartons.

I had one pip several hours ago and she was peeping for a while but now she's quiet and still--is this normal?? Or should she be trying non-stop to zip?

I had one peep yesterday afternoon, then got quiet- so quiet I thought it was a goner. She hatched this afternoon!
