Anybody going to be hatching around March 22?

Okay I was a few days behind you guys to begin with and then my bator has been running cool but I candled today and I have veins!!! These are all first season pullet eggs from my BA's and my turkeys. I'm all jazzed!

My hatch may be as much as two or three extra days at this point but what the heck, with free eggs it's a lot easier. (My first hatch was a bust with bought eggs and only one hatched alive.)

I put the mutt BA eggs in there in case a poult hatched so it would have company.

This is wayyyy too addictive.

Technically mutts (chickens). From what I've been able to research about genetics we should have several Red Sex Links and a few unknowns. We only have 6 eggs in the bator and one looks clear. All this talk is making me want to candle again!

Last night with the lid open to do the 6, the temp went down like 10 degrees though. I mean, once I closed it it was back up within a few minutes, but thats the main reason I called it quits, the drop made me nervous. Think I should try again tonight?

Don't leave the lid open when you are candling. Take out one or two eggs and close it. Candle the eggs and then put them back and do a couple more. Close the lid each time.

I have 41 in the bator due on March 25th. This will be my second time around!!

My first hatch went well. Out of 10 fertile, we have 7 little guys running around! They hatched March 3rd. I was a nervous wreck that time and I think it went well, so this time I am much more relaxed. Haven't candled these guys yet, giving it a few more days. Good luck everyone!!

Candled last night for the first time... 6 are great, 4 unsure, 2 very unsure.
Guess I'll try again in a few days and see how the last 6 are doing.
Now I'm starting to get pretty excited
