Anybody hatching around March 7th? PICS page 9,18

Quote:
This is my second batch. Last time I just did 4 eggs to test fertility and one hatched. So this time is my first bigger batch. So far So good and they look way better than last time I tried this.

Hmm... none of mine seem to be moving around... but they're right next to each other, so there's not a lot of 'wiggle' room in there anyway... I'm going to go watch them like a hawk now to see... I took a peek a little bit ago and all of my eggs still have thier air sacs intact... I'm guessing they wouldn't be visible if the chick has pipped internally, right?

Well, looks like I am first to have a chick!

This little girl pipped last night about 7:30 and she just popped out. I was getting worried because there seemed to be some blood in the pip and of course I figured the worst was happening but I really tried hard not to interfere and here she is! The second one pipped this morning and is working on getting out.

This is day 19 for me too but the small bantams usually pip around day 18 to 19. I have two more that are slightly larger that haven't pipped yet.

Keep watching and good luck!

Tonight I candled all the eggs, and moved them to the hatcher. I havent candled since day 7. There were 4 quitters out of 21 eggs. One of those was a light brahma egg laid on 1/31/09, one was a self blue oegb (from my new pair) laid on 2/5/09, and the last two were self blue oegb laid on 2/5/09 and 2/9/09.

So I have 8 Light Brahma eggs, 1 Self Blue OEGB egg, 2 Black Breasted Red OEGB eggs, and 6 Salmon Faverolle eggs, for a total of 17 eggs due this Saturday.
Day 18 was at 11:50 am this morning. I cant wait for chickies.

Pegasuschick: She is adorable! What breed is she?

She is a mixed BB red bantam. A friend sent me some eggs from her mixed flock. She included a duck!! I have no idea what I will do with the duck. Probably sell her.

I have one more of these little tiny bantams and then two more slightly larger ones. Not sure what they are either. Just like Christmas!

Don't worry about your standard eggs, they shouldn't be pipping until 21 days unless you had your temps high.
I am SO impatient too!!! Can't get a thing done when I am hatching eggs.
