Anybody hatching around the 17th?

Well apparently I can't count, because there were 34 eggs when I took them from the turner, 29 hatched on their own, and I just helped the last one this morning that had been pipping at least since yesterday. The poor little thing was a breach baby--turned around the wrong way in the shell. Seems a bit on the weak side, but I left him in the incubator to dry out. All the other chicks are in my brooder along with 5 that are 3 weeks old. So far everyone seems to be getting along fine, although the 3 week old chicks are acting more competitive with each other. I suppose it's a crowding issue--that a lot of chicks for one bath tub brooder! I think I will move the 3-week-olds outside soon. It's going to be in the 90's all week for highs, and lows maybe to 68--any opinions?

This is day 23, btw.

She's doing really well now, has a bandaid over the gash and is in with the others and doing well, totally recovered from the shock, thankfully.

So two light blue puffies and two that are at this point black and white - not bad for how damaged the air cells were. I'm delighted Halo they're gorgeous.

Do not kick yourself, you can't see something that is slowly going wrong inside a chick. It may not have been something you did or didnt' some just aren't going to make it.

One of my hatched poults just quit. Now they were expected to do poorly so I wasn't all that surprised to lose one after hatch. Sometimes you can do something, sometimes it's just nature being nature.

You do what you can the rest is up to nature, God, luck and a bunch of things you haven't got any control over.

Hugs
