I've got 2 Oscars. They were originally supposed to be "friends" but soon tried killing each other. Now they are in 2 separate 46 gallon tanks with a pleco in each. They could use bigger tanks...I know!
One is a red Oscar and the other is a common Oscar..both very different personalities.
The red Oscar likes to be petted and will jump for his food. His tank lid is taped shut with painter's tape due to his aggressive jumping habits and finding him on the floor when I came home from the grocery store! He will beg for food like a little puppy and moves everything in the tank around regularly.
The common Oscar is more quiet. Will beg for food like the other one but doesn't jump or hit the lid like he does. He also doesn't do much redecorating, though I've had to put high density plastic heaters in both tanks due to their penchant for destruction of the glass ones.
No thermometer can survive them either!
I enjoy them immensely and hope they live a long time. Have had them both about 8-9 years now. They outlive the plecos most of the time so I've had to get them both new buddies but as long as the plecos are about 6 inches long when I get them, they do fine. Seem to love them being in there for company. The plecos get to be around 15 to 18 inches and then live about 4 yrs and poop out.
