Anybody heard from Tractor Supply, about Chick Days ?

Out in Martinsburg, West Virginia and in Winchester, Virginia they currently have Cornish X(straight run), Americauna's(actually they are EE's but sold as Americauna's for some reason, straight run), Red Sex Links(pullets), Black Orpingtons(straight run), and some call ducks I believe(straight run). $1.99 for each except the Red Sex Links, they are $2.69. I ended up picking up 6 redheads, and 1 lucky Americauna just because I thought it looked cool. Darkest one of the bunch, thick/wide, with a HUGE beard and muffs already at just a few days old. Biggest chick in my brooder of 12 with 3 other EE's, 1 auburn java, 1 blue red laced wyandotte, and the 6 tractor supply redheads.

Tractor Supply in Lampasas got theirs this morning..

they had
Cornish Rocks (1.99 each)
Mixed straight run.. (1,99 each)
"Red pullets"
Mixed straight run bantams
"mixed ducks".. the ducks looked like pekins but they were only labeled as mixed

I don't remember the price on the others but i know they were over 2.00 each

they were selling out of the ducks and the cornish already.. and they had only had them for about an hour

when i called Killeen they still didn't know where theirs were (my guess is that they were at the post office but the girl who answered the phone didn't know)

I went by the one here in tyler yesterday afternoon and picked up six red sexlinks. Pair that with six bantam straight runs i picked up at Atwoods a couple of days ago and we've currently got a dozen little guys...err hopefully girls, peeping up our garage. A couple of these birds will end up staying around at our house but any roosters and a few of the hens will have to be sold once they're raised. We will see if i can't at least fund my keepers of the ones i sell.

I plan to sell the sex links as well, I already have people who want them, just cant take them till feathered in and ready to go outside. So come early May, they will be ready and will be sold for $8-$10 each. I only plan to keep the Americauna(EE) I picked out if it turns out to be a pullet. I have some of my own chicks hatched out that I was in the process of selling when I added the sex links to the inventory of for sale pullets, easy money. After feed/heat I should profit $3-5 per bird.

I just got back a little while ago with my first batch!! We got 5 Cornish Rocks and 5 random pullets. The only ones they still don't have are the assorted bantams. The very nice guy at our TSC said to just give them a call in the morning and save myself a trip if they are not in yet :) I'm not so patiently waiting for them! <3

I was at TSC and they had some chicks in on Monday here in Cincinnati, Ohio. The ducks were adorable....so wish we had a pond. They had mixed pullets and Cornish. We went for the bantams they said were in, but got there and whoever we talked to had been wrong.....no bantams yet.

Ours came in Monday.

They had:
Red Pullets
Straight run Buff Brahmas
Cornish Rocks

Their ducks have not arived yet, but should be there anyday.

We got 12 Reds, 4 Buff Brahmas, and 1 Cornish Rock

Probably will get more chicks when we go back for the ducks.

Just went in today to check on some parts and 10 min. later they came in the door. Got them under th light about a hour ago. Ended up with some reds. Should work out I hope. They said they were all pullets so hope they are good layers. Will find out in about 15 weeks. Here in Minnesota by the way.

digger: they are pretty much the BEST layer breed you will find! My 2 only missed a few days of laying during a light molt, and then once or twice other than that. They will lay roughly 330 eggs a year or so, especially if you do a few little tricks throughout the winter(like putting black pepper in their food). They dont get very big, so they dont eat as much as larger breeds,my hens are like 5lbs max, but they lay xlarge brown eggs everyday. larger eggs than most breeds out there. And they are very calm, dont mind being held, and come running up to me. You will not be disappointed.
