anybody raise sprouts to feed the chickens?

Well, giving up on the fermented grains, I can't get them to sprout. When I just soak the grain in fresh water for 12 hrs or so and put them in burlap sacs they sprout beautifully, but fermented w/ the same plan no sprouting.

I started the lentils last night. Going to try to sprout now too. I read lentils were easy, so maybe I can manage those

Are you on the West Coast? I can't get organic but I pay 11.00 for a 50lb bag of re-cleaned oats our oats are worth more out here though these are local

Lotsapaints,
I live in the frozen northeast. New York state more specifically. I would do my own page if I could just figure out how to do it! an avatar would be nice too!

Cindiloohoo,
I have been trying to sprout since this thread started! All I get is smelly gross seeds. I put a bulb in my oven to sprout in there. I follow directions......... Bought the organic oats to try. Now there are oats and sunflower seeds going........wish me luck!

I haven't taken the time for a page I read so many threads learning so much it seems I can't tear myself away....

Just now put about five pounds of whole oats in two sprouting bags in water in a five gallon bucket of water for eight hours. Next I'll rinse the half-filled bags in the sink every eight hours or so, set them on a large bowl and let them drain in the empty five gallon bucket.
I also have a gallon jar with special sprouting lid that's sitting on the kitchen counter for eight hours. Then I'll rinse them in put it upside down on the large bowl in the five gallon bucket to drain along with the two sprouting bags.
Anxious to see how they turn out.

I read this thread the other day and now have a jar of black sunflower seeds and white millet in the pantry, soaking
