Anybody Set any eggs to day 03-15-14?

Hey I set six silkie bantam eggs under my silkie bantam on the 12/03/14 so I don't know if they will hatch some time around the duck eggs that was four days ago but I am happy to join if I can

glad to have you what date did you set on?

Hi, chickencrazy999, I set 5 BAxRIR mix eggs under a Broody Buff Orpington on the same day 03/12/14 (how we would write the same date differently in the states). Ours will probably hatch at a different time than those ducks but we can compare our chickens.

Never set eggs under a broody before and it's still pretty cold here so not sure it's going to work but wanted to give it a try anyway.

you know they may hatch about the same time as my quail eggs

Oh how eggciting I have candled the eggs today at day 5 and it shows that 5/6 are fertile and have little baby's wriggling around! Oh yes its so exciting isn't it I cant wait I also bought 3 guinea piggys today 1 boar and 2 sows I am looking at breeding them this summer hope fully!

Fun Fun Guinea Pigs are fun how old are they? I know that they do not breed after a certain age because there pelvis shrinks.

I have heard quail eggs are very hard to candle I will find out tonight. The duck eggs seem so huge compared to the chicken eggs kind of funny to be them sid eby side with the quail eggs.

One of my little game mix bantams went broody and stole some eggs from me a few days ago. I moved her and nine eggs out of the main coop on the night of the 14th, so I'd love to join you guys! The last few batches we've tried have invariably been infertile, probably because of winter or the age of the rooster, so I don't know how successful we'll be. I'm giving these eggs a chance because I'd really like to have an heir from my old Silkie rooster, who's come down with bumble foot, even though it's a bit of a ridiculous cross ;)

I'll candle next weekend to see if any of the eggs have anybody in them. The eggs are 1/4 Sebright, 1/4 OEGB, 1/2 Silkie and they would be sex linked by skin color I think. I'm trying to keep from getting egg-cited again (oh, that's terrible), because they're probably going to be empty. It'll be very nice to see everybody else's babies either way! Goslings sound so exciting. I thought about slipping a duck egg under the broody, which would surely be fertile with how the ducks have been behaving lately, but I need another drake like I need another hole in the head!

yeah I was only planning on chicken and quail but then the guyI got the chicken eggs from threw in some ducks so what the heck

That happened to me with chicks this last December. I had a lone hatchling and went to get some chicks from a woman. I wanted six and she said she was overrun and was having trouble finding them all homes. Would I like six for free? So I sighed and took them, and would you believe that out of twelve chicks so far it looks like I only have one rooster?

that is awesome though will you be able to keep them all? I have 15 4 week old chicks right now and 3 almost two week old chicks I was trying to introduce the babies to the bigger oes so I can have there cage for the next batch due on the 21st but the bigger chicks a4 to 5 times bigger and tend to have random panic sessions where they make a mad dash from imagined predators and bowl the little guys over and also a couple of them have taken a definite dislike to the younger babies so they will have to stay separated a bit longer I have a special needs chick in the younger bunch and would hate to have something happen to him so he will probably just get moved in with the new babies as they hatch.
