Anybody setting today (3-25) or tomorrow (3-26)??

So good to know that others are in on this with me! I am pretty excited! I have my incubator up and running, it is all regulated. I am going to pick up a hydrometer today when we go out. So then I will be all ready to set! I will sadly, be putting the eggs in the incubator tomorrow instead of today. My supplier doesn't have them ready yet...

ETA: I will try to post a pic of Daisy tonight. She is the most mean broody that I have had yet. She puffs up, screeches, and bites! YIKES!! LOL

I am spending way too much time thinking about my hen and those eggs (a mix of breeds from a lovely BYC member). One was pushed far from the nest box this morning, and I was sad about it, but when I broke it open I could see that it hadn't been fertilized. Crazy how a chicken can tell these things!

I moved my broody hen and her chosen nest box into a wire dog crate that I put where her nest box had been originally. (It's an area of the run covered by a shade cloth but with no protection from rain, and I had to move her yesterday to a covered area near the feed as it rained). I put up a tarp over the crate, so now she can be in "her spot" but not so vulnerable to wind and rain. I've locked her in - and locked the other girls out. She has her own food and water. When she was near the main food and water, she was getting hassled a bit.

I am setting 42 tonight: Barred Rock, RI, Aracaunas and Brahmas. The eggs are coming from a friends neighbor, so I have no idea on the hatch rates. The last time I purchased hatching eggs, I was 0 out of 19 (young flock). I have great hatching rates on my own eggs.

Eggcited!

Nice! I love Barred rocks! I am actually going to be picking some up on Wednesday. So that means that my next hatch will have Barred chicks in it! YAY!!

And I just went out to the coop and found 5 more eggs to add to Daisy's clutch. So that brings her number up to 13!

count me in my little easter egger decided she is golng to set. been broody for a week. i went down to collect eggs a half hour ago and she was sitting on 6 eggs. 3 white and 3 brown. so i decided to let her go for it. i marked them with a marker. i have 2 roosters in my flock a pure white rock and a pure white leghorn. my hens are 7 gold comets, 2 rhode island red, 9 white leghorn, 3 easter eggers, 1 black marans that hasnt layed since i bought her in october,

Here she is on the nest. It's supposed to be very cold tonight, and she seems to be clamped down tight for it. :)
