Anybody setting today (3-25) or tomorrow (3-26)??

Sorry to hear about that first chick Mychookschick I hope she has better luck with the rest of her babies.

That's OK... I think that it was a sign that it just wasn't going to be strong enough to survive. I think that it is better to find it dead than to find it alive and then have it die in less than a week's time!

My humidity is 65 to 70 i think i saw a few ifffyyyys when i put them in lock down had to add a sponge checked 2 eggs while adding spong saw 2 moving but have not piped threw the air cell yet today is day 20 . So I hope by tonight to see some cracks . I hate these last 2 days they can be fine then just die and not hatch.

Someone correct my if I am wrong, but I am pretty sure that your humidity is WAAAYYY too high! They will be drowned!

Is the live chat rooms I take it no longer on backyard chickens?

Not sure what you mean, but I haven't seen any chat rooms on BYC.....

OK, and a question for you guys: How long should I leave that broody on her nest with the eggs before moving her and her chicks to the cage in the coop??

so the eggs were all dry they were shrink wrapped which mean by brand new hydrometer is completely wrong i wet the membrane some had piped but are weak from the lake of air. So its not looking good i think we will loose most of them i cant keep the membrane wet without opening bator then the temp drops so fast they get to cold ughhhh

Take your incubator into the bathroom. Turn on the shower and steam it up real good, then carefully pip their shells for them, as long as u go in through the airsack you won't poke the chick. Then carefully, and I mean carefully pip the internal membrane if there are any alive you will most likely see their beak. At this point if they are all shrink wrapped they won't ever get out of the inner membrane without assistance. Watch for blood vessels! Do not tear any of these as this will cause lots of bleeding. This is only my opinion so take it for what it's worth but I had the same thing happen to me last week. The ones I helped lived, the ones I didn't died. Good luck.

Thank you so much . since today is day 20 they still have viens but some had piped so the ones i could reach the beak i put a hole in it and carefully pulled it above there aire holes. I hope some make it

So tonight I went out to the coop to check on My girl and her eggs,I am so proud of her she has been sitting there for over 25 days now if you count when she was on the plastic ones. When I got out there though I noticed a half or maybe third of a shell out of her nest, it is only day 18 so I thought it was to early for a chick but I got kinda excited anyways. I then lifted her up from one side to another and found no chick and also none of the rest of the shell, the piece of shell that I did find however had a bit of a bloody residue on it. I am a bit confused, could she have eaten what ever the contents of the shell may have been or did it just vanish somehow? This is all new to me so it is never a dull moment. I also think it is now lock down time for the one I have in my incubator and I was wondering what humidity it should be at? I have read a lot of posts and I have seen anywhere from 60-75% rite now I'm sitting at 65% and I hope its okay. I candled tonight before I took out my egg turner and the little one has pretty much filled the whole shell, I could only see a very small area at the small end and could make out some movement and what maybe looked like two feet. I hope it all goes well, I know it does not always work out and I keep telling my fiancee this because she is very excited about watching it hatch in the next few days. Time will tell but in a few days we just might have some baby chicks to adore. I wish everyone else good luck as well

Well, Momma Sophie is on the home stretch! She's been glued to her nest the whole time, this is day 19 for her, so by Sunday we might see some action! We'll find out soon if she did the job correctly the whole time. She's still got seven eggs, I gave her nine originally and only candled them once, at day 10. I took out the two that weren't developing and she's been on the remaining seven since then, so here's hoping she'll get at least a few! :)

Yay! Glad to hear that everyone is going well!! I should know soon! My broody just went into lock-down, and her eggs are due on Sunday, but I am not expecting much from those. If they don't hatch, I will just give her more and hope they take!

And my incubator goes into lock-down on Sunday and is due to hatch on Wednesday! I am pretty confident with those, but we'll see!!

I am not going to make it through the next few days!! Can't stop checking the eggs. No pipping, no cheeping. Yet I have to peer into the incubator every 30 minutes or so.
