anybody using a brower round metal bator?

I just received a used Brower 846 in the mail from some good friends. This things looks like a monster! I'm totally intimidated but way too excited! How many times a day do ya'll turn your eggs? My friends said once but I've read you can do it 3 times a day.

so far, so good
we turned 3xs a day & misted once to help with humidity...it seemed to run a little dry
we're on day 20 with the 845 & we've only ditched 8 eggs out of 42...6 to infertility & 2 dead embryos from cracking
we added two additional pie pans of water on day 18 before sealing and all is well so far

we weren't supposed to get any hatching until today(fri)...four have hatched since wed 1159pm....i guess i was a day off, but since i put the eggs in after 4pm the first day, i read to count that as day 0 & the next day as day 1...i guess the eggs can't count

I have an 845. The temp varies widely... I adjust it so the top temp is about 101, and it will go down to the low 90s before turning the heater back on.

Would you think this would be the wafer or the switch?

Thanks.

I would put my money on the wafer.

as they get older, they expand and contract slower.. the switch has a travel of just under 1/8 of an inch,,
that never changes..

If you have room, try to find a double wafer.. or at least install a new single wafer...

have you checked in at wisc cheeseheads?? look for us under the heading;;;;; where am I where are you ?

.......jiminwisc..........

Hi I just picked up a older metal Brower model #14003, catalog #845 for $20. You mentioned you put a "waffer" in it. What is that? I have used new incubators, the styrofoam ones but I am kinda clueless with this one.
Thanks for your help.

you guys talk about finding parts for these.. id like to know where ive done all kinds of searches on the internet for parts for my brower 846
