Anyone actually like/love their job anymore?

I am an RN in a newborn intensive care unit and I LOVE it.
There's no job in the world in which snuggling a newborn is a job perq!

I love my job. Some days it is very frustrating and I go home wondering why I even try, when I know the next time the phone rings it is going to be someone wanting the police to come and parent their child, or someone on welfare who refuses to get a job wanting an ambulance to go to the hospital because they have a cold. (No, I am not against welfare for those who truly need it, but majority of the people in my county are sponges and 3 or 4th generation welfarers.) Then, there is that one call, where I get to save a life or stop a crime, that makes everything else disappear and my job all worth it.

I co-own a plumbing and HVAC company with my husband, and yes I do love my job...most of the time.

Every once in a while I'd like to drop-kick a customer but for the most part it's a rewarding job.

Love my job. I'm an exotic animal caretaker and handler. Hate my boss sometimes. She has issues.

I don't love going to work each day as there's so much I need to do at home that I can't get done on the weekends, but the actual job I love. I feel like I have the best RN job going - I'm a nurse at a college health center. No weekends, no holidays, no nights - and I get to work part time all summer and during various school breaks just doing paperwork. My previous RN job was in research - also a recommended field for nurses.

Thank you.

It's hard to stay enthusiastic about work as people get older, people get kind of jaded after seeing various situations and feeling like they've gotten treated unfairly. It's also hard to stay excited about something that you know isn't what you really want to do or doesnt' speak to your interests.

I've learned it's very hard to do top quality work when you're sick, misdiagnosed, getting 2 hrs of sleep a night for 18 months and dragging yourself around in constant pain! Been there done that one!

But I think it's really, very, very important to have a love of what you do in life. I don't believe for even a second, that the key to this is finding 'the perfect job'. Cats and birds, no dogs, exotic, pay is great, no math? I click better with dogs than cats...no...I do not for even a part of a SECOND believe that the search for the perfect job is the answer.

I think the key is that you find a type of work, set your sights on it, and create in yourself, the energy, the love, the excitement, the knowledge, the pride in a good job well done.

I think that what you do for a living and how you do it, should be a really very exciting and rewarding part of your life - EVERY DAY. I think this sounds ridiculous to some worn out workers, but I think you should bounce out of bed every single day, excited about what you have to do and really proud of yourself and the unique contribution you make. I think it is wonderful to look back and think, I did a really good job on that, and I made a contribution that no one else would have made quite the same way.

I think what God wants for us, is a rich and satisfying life. Not just at home, but in everything we do. As someone said you can peel a potato to perfection and it will glorify God (Chariots of fire, I think).

I think that we should work really hard from the start to get a good education and wind up doing something that we aim at, and feel really passionate about, that we feel really does some good, and makes a difference in something that means something to you. I don't for a second think that needs to be something really fancy. But I think it needs to be something practical that sustains you.

Education is the key. The education I got gave me a fantastic foundation. It allowed me to steer my own ship, and even, to make changes in career as I discovered new abilities and interests. That beginning is critical.

I think it's very important to 'swallow a little medicine' and work hard at things you think you don't like or aren't good at. Time and time again I thought I wasn't good at something, I stuck a stick in it and stirred it a little bit and found out, hey! Guess what! I love doing this, and if I work at it I will very good at it.

Don't ever...EVER believe anyone who tells you you can't do something. Try it. Try it with an open mind, dive in with all your being, with belief that you'll be guided in the right direction, that you can do anything you throw your heart into.

You make that great feeling by working at it.

I loved my job til I got layed off 2 years ago. Six months looking for a job and collecting unemployment was enough for me. I stopped looking for a job, quit collecting unemployment and decided to permanently retire. I had to cut back in some areas...I can make a hamburger taste like a steak, we're doing ok.

I work as an Office Manager on the administration side of public transit. I do love my job. We have all the frustrations that come with dealing with the public on a daily basis, but people like Mildred in a wheelchair who buys her tickets in person and always has a smile, or Tim the cross dressing mentally handicapped person who is always so danged nice (he has a great wig too), make dealing with those difficult people worth it. I confess to alot of eye rolling when I am on the phone though.
