Ok, so I opened a facebook account a few years ago. It was when facebook was mostly kids & college students. I "friended" my kids, and started following their lives. I thought I was being pretty sneaky learning all about them and their friends. I found out my kids and their friends are actually really good people. Yay!

Fast forward to a year later.....my mother and her sisters (in their late 60's & early 70's) got a facebook account. For a while all was fine. Reconnected with people from high school (30+ years ago) which seemed interesting. Then old boyfriends, and past co-workers went into the mix. Over time there were maybe 250 "friends" reading about my life on a daily basis. I had become obsessed with who had "liked" my last picture or comment. I started spending WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too much time on FB. Shortly after that came the drama. My mother would ask me in a phone conversation if I had seen so & so's comment about XYZ.....

Really? How about a conversation in PERSON with the certain someone she was talking about. Then it hit me. Facebook is simply a place to gossip and be nosy about people. I then heard that once you upload a picture or video or any other type media onto facebook, they OWN the rights to use anything you put on there. I didn't believe it, so I started reading the fine print. Yep, it's true.

So, after downloading all my photos and other material, I have deactivated my facebook account and have re-entered the world of REAL LIFE.

How does everyone else feel about FB?

I like it alot, gettin' the xfer of opinions & seein' others viewpoints, is what drives my daily urge to get on FB...& now that you say that FB owns the rights to the photo's I post on there, That's a whole new Ballgame!!! I'mna do some research on that...Thanks fer the heads up!

Im not on it alot, every once in a while I post something.I don't use a cell phone either. But I love Youtube and check it everyday.

I agree 100% zippity...which is why I'm no longer a member there either. People who won't speak to you in person will be your "friend" on fb just to see your business. I still use twitter, although less than I used to. I prefer a private, quiet little life

I like it and have been able to connect with friends and family. Pluse I've made some new friends on there and gotten a few good deals on services too. I'm also connected with some band members of my fav band and other fellow artists. I use FB for a business page for my artwork as well so I'm finding it fun and usefull!

I like it. I've reconnected with a lot of people there.

It's what you make of it. I really don't get all the FB hate. Block what and who you don't want, or don't use it at all. Pretty simple.

I joined it some time ago but haven't been on it for a long time now. I realized that the people I care (and who care) to keep in contact with, I already do through emails and visiting. I did exchange some posts with some of the people from high school (grad. 1968) but I soon found out that we really don't have much in common. I also realized that I just have too many other things I'd rather be doing than to spend time on FB. If I spent time there I'd have to spend less time on other things. But that's just how I feel, for me.

Facebook is just that. A book of many faces from all around the world. Yes many enjoy it but others don't want everyone to know their business. I have heard it is an affair for married people to find new flings, while still connected to their wife/husband. Older people who have an account they seem to get caught up in it and stay on it every waking moment. I myself just have email and watch little tv during the day, listen to 106.9 the light, radio station when working in the house, computer use is not all that for me but looking up info and locations is good. All this new tech. stuff is great at times, but I feel everyone is losing out on what life really is, you know basic living, playing outside. Everyone is quick to use electronics instead of their heads, heck I still looks words up in a book instead of a computer. Old Fashion maybe, just don't want to lose what I've always known and that's doing things by using my mind, hands, and eyes, not new stuff to do it for me. Sorry for rambling so much.....

I got fed up with some of the games, they take way to much time! So I get on a bit every day to say hello to my friends and family and then I get on with my life.

It's kind of tricky to make a drama free FB but I think I managed it

I have 160 friends, half is family (mine and DH) and the other half are friends, only 2 co-workers, and high school friends. They all know I am a drama free person. If you start drama or have to much drama going on in your feed you get deleted. If you get over nosy with me and want to know more than I am willing to share you get deleted. If I can't understand what you are trying to write because you think talking in stupid is cool, you get deleted. I delete a lot of people and I deny a lot of friend requests to. I'm not on FB just to see how many friends I can get, I am on there to keep in touch with the friends that I like and with my family. It makes the whole thing much more enjoyable
