Anyone doing a later year hatch that wants to share stories, experiences and pics?

I'm going to candle mine now. I'm so hoping they are doing well.

OK, well I couldn't really see the Welsummer eggs, too dark, and there are air pockets on all and veining on all I can see. I hope they are all really fertile, and I'm not seeing veins because I want to, lol.

Progress today! The incubator and backup temp/hygrometer arrived today and I set it up. The egg should be delivered tomorrow, I hope. I still have to calibrate the backup, but I'm getting closer!

Thanks! I ordered the bator with the auto turner. I have only incubated eggs from my flock, years ago. This will be my first attempt with shipped eggs. I will candle them to evaluate the condition of the air cells and let them rest at least 24 hrs, or up to 48hrs if they look like they took a beating during shipping.

This was my first time with shipped eggs. I let them rest for 36 hours, put them in the egg turner in the incubator but didn't plug it in until after 24 hours. There are so many different opinions on shipped eggs. We'll see how it goes! :fl

Yours are at 4 1/2 days now, right? Mine will be about a week behind. We'll see how they do. I just got a text from USPS. My eggs just left Ybor City, so they should be here tomorrow! I still don't know what kind they sent. I am eggscited, lol.

I think you made the right decision in disposing of the snake. It would have come back for an egg dinner. Hope all the eggs hatch and Inna gets better soon!
If it didn't come back for eggs, it would have returned for chicks ... and that would have been even more heartbreaking. Unfortunately for the snake (and I'm not a snake-hater) you did the right thing.
