I tried Atkins, twice. It was the easiest diet for me, once I got past my cravings for sweets, because with all the protein I truly didn't feel hungry - ever. My problem with Atkins was that after a while I started having very bad kidney pain. I don't think my kidneys are able to handle that much protein. Needless to say, after going off Atkins I gained all my weight back, plus some.
I'm currently reading the updated South Beach book and am going to give this diet (no, not diet, LIFESTYLE CHANGE!) a try after I've read the whole thing. It is similar to Atkins but it doesn't look like it's going to overload my system with so much protein, and it stresses eating lean proteins such as fish and boneless/skinless chicken.
To answer the OP's question though, I ate lots of eggs for breakfast while on Atkins. Eggs & sausage, eggs & bacon, eggs & cheese, eggs & sausage & cheese... you get the picture. I got very, very tired of eggs!
