anyone due on feb. 8th-13th??

Hi Gina - I also am incubating some store eggs (fertile eggs from Trader Joe's) because someone else on BYC said she had set some & they were developing. Another person on this thread reminded me that the store eggs are washed. So something to be aware of... Anyway, my TJ's eggs so far don't seem to be doing anything. I'm not even sure they're fertile -- the dot on the ones I've broken looks more like the "infertile" in the pictures I've seen. BUT my eggs were 8 days old, and the person who said it was working had set eggs that were only 3 days old.

Keep us posted on the store egg!!

By the way, I had the thrill today of candling & seeing definite embryos, one with movement even, in my 4-5 day old GLW's!

Probably the problem with store eggs is that they could be older than we think. I have my doubts that this egg is going to hatch, thanks for reminding me that the store eggs are washed. I will be very surprised if it hatches. I had no idea that some of the eggs you buy at the store are fertile.
Time will tell.

so much for your "control" egg. lol

I will have to check out your website too since it is getting such rave reviews.

been having issues with temps today.... at least they are low temps instead of high.

Yeah, low is better than high.
My temps have been fairly stable today. Not sure why. Just about the time I think I have it figured out, I find out it has just changed symptoms!!

My LG still air is usually between 99.5-101.5. For a few hours in the first few days it hit 103 (acckk!) but everything seems to have evened out now. The air is very dry though and I am having a hard time getting the humidity up a little. I swear when I candled my eggs it looked like the air cell was on the bottom and these were collected at home and have been in egg cartons with the big end up so I don't know what is going on there.

Gina,
I got some Land O Lakes organic brown eggs and they were fertile. I thought about trying to hatch them, but I don't want anything but Hamburgs (and maybe a few silkies and showgirls down the road:lol:) and I wouldn't know what to do with the extras.

Yes! I have sixteen salmon Faverolle eggs due to hatch between the 11-12th of Feb. My two cochin bantam hens are sitting on them. Both hens are set up in the back room of my house.

trying to keep mine around the same.... somewhere near 100.
hubby called and said it was at 100.1 so I am happy for now. (Im at work)

Gina, I believe the incubators mock us. Hold steady for a day or two and let us think we have mastered it. Then drop/raise the temp several degrees just to watch us go crazy. It is a conspiracy.

I had to add a couple of butter dish lids this summer with water to keep the humidity high enough. The water wells in the incubator weren't enough. Not having trouble with that... yet. That will be the next trick the bator plays on me.
