I've set up a comfy chair next to a beach umbrella in my chicken yard.

On my weekends I like to bring out treats for my flock as well as a cooler of sandwiches, water and other refreshing beverages for myself.
Add a little music or a book and on a nice day ill sit out there for hours.

I also sit in my chicken pen and watch them and feed them treats. I usually wind up doing some rearranging or more cleaning but there are times when I just
sit. When they get tired and all (only have 5) huddle together in their sand box, i figure the entertainment is over for a while and I leave. Sometimes do this a couple times a day and find it very relaxing. The weather here in KY. has been so hot that it becomes difficult to stay out doors. Ice bottles and watermelon for the chickens and lemonade for me!!

I love it!
I just sit on the ground or a crate or something & have my coffee with them in the morning. If I put a chair out there my DH might go over the edge, or think I have....
I did forward this to my mom for her significant other. He has been complaining about the chicken poo on the new front patio, and the chickens standing at the screen door and bewk bawk bawking at him. Never mind the fact she comes home to find him sitting out there with a martini and a chicken on his shoulder.... or that he was the one that shucked the corn from the farm share out there with them, AND that every 20th ear or so went to the chickens....and so on! I think he needs a sweet setup like yours!
Thanks for sharing!!!

Every chance I get! The younger ones love to come and sit and dust right next to me. I love to play the "who will sit in my lap for a treat" game. I have a little chair that I can bring in the coop or in the run. My DH is realizing how crazy I have become.

I do every night during warm weather and I love every minute of it. I need to take a pic of our sitting area though -- we keep metal folding chairs outside all the time in our sitting area. It's me & my mother's way of chillin' each night. We sit and talk, watch the kids play and watch the funny antics of the chickens. We definitely enjoy our "chicken tv"!

This is what happens to me if I sit with the chickens though.

Her name is Persistence because she's so persistent in wanting food or treats first, so she flies onto my shoulder every night. She's so loveable and is such a great momma. She's my favorite girl.

This is great! I'm not alone here. My wife thinks I'm a nut sitting out there with chickens all around me.

Heck yes!

Even when it was frigid last winter. I usually bring work or something out with me but too often I end up just watching them and their antics (or they decide that they need cuddles/attention!). I love your setup, BTW!

I go to the coop several times a day, sit on the floor and soon my legs are covered by chickens preening or hunkered down resting or actually sleeping. I stroke their backs with my fingers and use one finger to stroke near their face/ear. Often that's enough to make them shut their eyes and go to sleep. I enjoy all their vocalizations which are varied and interesting. One day the coop was silent of voices. The only sounds were that of them preening their feathers - the snappy sound of beaks on quills followed by the swoop of bills pulling along the feathers themselves. I painted the inside a soft yellow, have pine shavings on the floor, and can see trees from the coop windows. It's truly enjoyable. Their feathers are beautiful.

I definately go out and chill with my chickens. My 24 chickens + 7 ducks + however many of the neighbors 50 something hanging about and running around the yard free ranging, i'm out under the tree reading or relaxing listening to CD player and just watching the chickens. I've got my friend into now that our kids are in school, she comes over some mornings and we're out there chit chatting and what not under the big hickory tree where the chickens usually hang out at - lol. Its very relaxing.

Yep...keep a "chicken bench" (wide board across two tree stumps) outside of the run and a fold-up chair in the run (folds up so chickens can't poop on it when it's vacant) for chicken watching. And the girls come up and chill with us on the front porch too!

My brother was in visiting (that's him in the pic) when I snapped this picture on our front porch...
