Anyone else ACTUALLY chill with their peeps?

Very funny, Kimberly.

I chill with my peeps daily. It is dangerous when I go out to check on them in the AM. I want to stay out there instead of getting dressed and going to work. I endure many mosquito bites to be with my girls (and guy).

When I first was exploring BYC, one of the things that struck me was in almost every picture of people's coops there was at least one chair. Some had 2 chairs. Some had tables and umbrellas. I think quite a few people chill with their peeps.

Everyday! My inlaws live next door too, so they come over on their golf cart with treats- the chickens now flock to the golf cart when they see it coming! One of our 17 is VERY tame and asks to come in the house if she's not getting what she believes to be the appropriate amount of attention- she's my 4 year-old's rag doll- they swing together, ride bikes, swim in the kiddie pool, go on golf cart rides, share fresh garden veggies... My brother's family thought we were nuts for sitting with the chicks every night, but now they love to come sit too!

I chill with my peeps every day! My after work routine goes something like this: After I get home and take care of whatever needs to be taken care of, I grab a cold beer or glass of wine and head out to the yard. This is the girls' favorite time of the day: free range time! Our yard isn't fenced so they can only have free range time when one of us is outside with them. So, tasty beverage in hand, I let the ladies out of their run and into the yard. If I'm feeling lazy, I'll throw a blanket down in the grass so I can lounge while the girls run around, digging for bugs and whatnot. If not, I'll follow them around the yard as they do their chicken things. No matter what kind of day I've had, I always feel better after spending an hour or two in the yard with the girls. It's better than therapy. Here are a few pics:

Every chance I get. It's my hide away. It's amazing how many times a day I say "I better go check on the chickens".

I have 6 kids.... need I say more?

Having read these posts, I now realise that I am in fact totally sane and normal

If doctors could prescribe chickens (and ducks!) for depression, anxiety or stress then the pharmaceutical industry would collapse!

My birds are my antidote to all of life's worries and stresses: work, kids, commuting, everything.

I would not be without them - even the hen that is currently attacking my feet with her sharp beak - she is a sweetie when I have treats!

My favorite part of the day is "chicken bonding time." Hubby comes home from work to find me out in my favorite outside chair located in the middle of our "chicken zone" - the back yard.
