Anyone Else as Stubborn or Cheap as Me?

There are some who have a medical condition known as Sensory Integrative Disorder and can barely tolerate clothes at any given time of the year. I, for one, suspect many of those who prefer nudity over clothes have this condition.

We are on propane for heating the water heater, cooking and warming the house. Propane is over $3.50 a gallon. It really makes me mad when the kid is running around in t-shirt, boxers and barefooted complaining he's cold, then wants to take a 30 minute shower to warm up. I don't think so buddy, you wanna be warm, go pick up trash in the yard, put some clothes on!
As for saving money on other stuff I can almost always find it cheaper online. I just bought a pair of Stetson Stovepipe jeans straight leg for $56.00 dollars. Just found them a few days ago on Shepler's for........$19.00. I took the original pair back and bought those instead. Same thing with The Big Guy's wranglers and the feed/western store $37.99 found them at Denim express for $24.00. If it is not on sale I am not going to buy it, period. I really want to try couponing!

WOW!!! 3.50/gallon! My gas company is currently charging $2.19/gallon -- the highest it's been all year. I'm going to need a fill up in the next couple of weeks. Hoping it drops - even if only a little. We get about two fill ups a year (sometimes 2.5 fill ups, if the winter was particularly long and harsh). I hate paying for propane, but everything in our home that can runs on propane.

Last year between Nov and Feb I spent $1500+ on propane. My last fill up in March it was $3.79 a gallon. I can guarantee that the price has gone up since then. I can't wait to get the wood burning stove installed!

If you want cheap, wood is the way to go! If a tree goes down around where you live or in your neighborhood, offer to clear it for free. I had the good fortune of my neighbors 500 yr. old live oak falling across my fence about 6 yrs. ago. He dreaded having to clear it so I said I would. He told me "thank you" to which I replied "No, thank you!". I think he was a little confused. Anyway I'm still using on the almost 14 cords I got out of that tree!

I guess I look at it like ordering water. Water is free. I guess it would be the same as them having to pay something for the energy bill to freeze the cubes that they fill with water. But water is still freeze. And they have to wash the water glasses out afterwards as well.

I would ask for a cup of hot water with my own Twinings tea...hate the restuaraunts cheapo brand of tea...bleck! I don't care if they charge me but usually they would include it with the meal. Water is always free.

Maybe they should charge $1.00 for their time to wash, or use their ice, or energy for our teas.

It's good to know that I am not the only one that is a tea connoisseur. I happen to prefer High grown, whole leaf tea, from Sri Lanka. I have not found it served in any restaurant to date.

We had a top of the line furnace, and heat pump installed about 3 years ago. I have the heat set at 65 overnight, and 70 for most of the day. in the evening it goes to 74, and I still am wearing my coat all the time in the house. I am cold all the time, and it's worse at night. My hands are like icicles, and my feet are not much better. I also don't wear shorts even in the summer time. It doesn't help that this past summer was the coldest summer in recorded history. I hate being cold all the time, and it make me hurt even more. I am old enough that I should be having hot flashes.

I forgot to add that I have 12 small finches and Anthuriums growing in the house, so I really don't feel that I can turn the heat down any further than 65.

Hmmm. Last night I couldn't get warm for nothin'...4 blankets, hat, socks, etc., while DH lay blissfully atop his blanket. I remembered my Boy Scout Training - got up and ate a snack, drank 2 glasses of water, and in an hour was comfy. Forgot that I need to eat and I get dehydrated.

Our thermo is set to 64*. Flannel sheets and a down comforter on the bed. Small space heater in the bathroom for showers. Snuggies (yes snuggies) on the back of the sofa. Hardest part is keeping hubbys feet warm, even with socks and slippers.

I don't like being cold.
Food
Clothing
(Warm) Shelter

Everything after that is just extra.

We put the heat on 70 in the evenings and turn it down to 68 when we go to bed. Keep the A.C. set at 78- 80 in the summer.
