Anyone Else as Stubborn or Cheap as Me?

I am always hot. I hate fla. it is finally cool today, supposed to get to 43 tonite..........................yeah.
was 65 at night other day and the lady I babysit for had her heat on, up to 80 degress,,was so hot.

I've had the oven on all day since last I was here... got Rose petal tea going for jelly, made stock, have a steak and stuffed chicken breast in the oven... have hot cocoa keeping warm since the kids have been in and out all day and it was only 52 out.

Not bad, house is a toasty 70 degrees to top it off!

I only had the space heater on until I flipped on the oven.

In the summer I turn the A/C on, I figured I can afford the A/C and I want to be comfortable. When its cooler I will just put a hoodie and sweat pants on until its tooo cold in the house. Then the heat will come on. We only have 1 income right now, so I am trying to save as many pennies as I can. (especially since Christmas is around the corner).

Winter time my thermostat is set at 65 and in the summer at 82. Between April and October I "brew" my own diesel fuel for the farm equipment. Yeah, I'm cheap. Anything that can be rebuilt WILL be rebuilt. Am I stubborn? My nickname my parents called me in high school was" Muley". My brother refers to me as "onery old coot". Yeah I'm stubborn.

Ok so how many or you spend more on your chicken feed then you do for heating your home ??

I'm not gonna suffer to pay a bill, I can cut back elsewhere. We keep the house between 67-74ish all year round.

Okay, I may have the cheapest story here:

my husband worked with a lady who goes to the movies and digs an empty cup and popcorn bucket out of the trash so she can get free refills!!!

Beat that one!

I have my heat set to come on at 60 degrees. We also have a fireplace, it is quite capable of keeping the main living area comfortable when we need it. We like the temps cool when we sleep. Otherwise, we wear sweatshirts, etc. if we need to.

When I cook and do laundry, it stays pretty warm in side.
