Anyone else get their MPC special? **Pics and updates**

Sssh! I just broke it to my husband that I'm on a waiting list for midget white turkeys in the spring. I haven't told him about the ducks I want yet...

Update time!

So here is the Taj Mahal DH built for the new chicks. I think he's tired of building more coops so he built this one with LOTS of room to grow in it. Seriously, the thing is huge.

My back isn't against the far wall when taking those pics. The windows are enormous and set up to cause a cross draft. Being in Texas, heat is more of a concern than the cold. We're going to put shutters up that can be closed when we drop down to freezing.

Here the crew is enjoying their new digs. Excuse the lighting. I picked the worst time of day to take pics.

From left to right we have Cinnamon (who loves to ride on my shoulder), Thistle, and Lily (the lap chicken) around the water cooler.

I've decided that Hickory is definitely a roo. Just look at this guy.

I'm hoping Thistle isn't also a roo. She has an awfully pink comb, but it's totally flat.

Pleaaaaaaaaase be a girl!

It sure is fun to see how the coloring changes as they age.

Here is the little black chick now:

Blackberry:

This one was a chipmunk. Here's Ivy. She has the wildest tufts!

But this completely different looking girl was also a chipmunk. Here's Iris. She is quite a character, feisty and curious.

And this third chick was also a chipmunk. Here's Pumpkin. She's orange. No really. Orange. Not gold. Orange and blue. She is fat and round like a little pumpkin, but she's got the craziest blue beard and back and tail. Don't get between her and her food.

It's amazing to me how those little chipmunk babies are all now so different.

Today they got cottage cheese for the first time. They looked so funny running around with white beaks.

Now DH just has to finish the run so that they can start enjoying some outside time. Okay, now it's time for everyone else to update those photos! I can't wait to see how your babies are growing.

Oh my goodness, your chicks look so cute; they grow so fast! Isn't it neat how they all have such different personalities?

I LOVE your new coop!

SOCCERMOM - Your chicks are beautiful! I'm so jealous too. I am still kicking myself that I didn't order that special but I had no room to put 25 chickens and my DH said he didn't have time to build another coop

I showed him the coop your husband obvisouly had time to build for you! Still working on a guilt trip so he gets me another coop going first thing this spring!

Please keep posting pictures so I can see what I'm missing!

Anybody figure out what they got in their Rainbow Layer Special? I believe I have 2 Wellsummers (one is roo), 1 Buff Chantecler, 1 Columbian Wyandotte, 2 WC Polish, 1 Splash Polish (roo), 2 Appenzeller Spitzenhaubens, 2 Barred Rocks, 2 White Leghorns, 2 Golden Phoenix and 8 Brown Leghorns. Anyone want 3 Polish, 2 Spitzenhaubens and 4 Brown Leghorns? I live near Athens, Georgia.

Anyone got new updates? I need to take pics this weekend when I get new batteries in the camera. Just looking at those pics, I can't believe how much they have changed!

I've wondered about Blackberry. Nothing about her comb says roo, but her stance does. And she sure is a feisty little thing. He/she is the tiniest chicken by far--bantam sized, where the rest are standard sized.

Anyone else with updates?

My rainbow layers consisted of 6 brown leghorns (all pullets), 5 white leghorns (all pullets), 6 silver penciled wyandottes (5 pullets, 1 roo--I'm almost positive

), 3 dominiques (all pullets), 5 Black Astrolorps (1 roo, 4 pullets), and a brownish-reddish bird that I haven't quite figured out the breed of yet
smile.png
I know she's a girl, but the breed has me stumped. She is a bit too red to be a buff orp, but she's a bit too buff to be a 'red' bird, like a RIR or a NHR. She 'might' be a NHR, I've not seen those in person (ever I think), but it seems as if they should be redder. So I'm thinking she's just a dark BO.

I ordered 25 pullets and received 26 chicks. As far as I can tell, only 2 of them are roos, so that works out pretty good
smile.png
I'll be selling all of them besides the leghorns in the spring, those are the ones my dad wants to keep.

So anyone need a group of SPW or BA?? Or some dominique pullets?
