Update time!
So here is the Taj Mahal DH built for the new chicks. I think he's tired of building more coops so he built this one with LOTS of room to grow in it. Seriously, the thing is huge.
My back isn't against the far wall when taking those pics. The windows are enormous and set up to cause a cross draft. Being in Texas, heat is more of a concern than the cold. We're going to put shutters up that can be closed when we drop down to freezing.
Here the crew is enjoying their new digs. Excuse the lighting. I picked the worst time of day to take pics.
From left to right we have Cinnamon (who loves to ride on my shoulder), Thistle, and Lily (the lap chicken) around the water cooler.
I've decided that Hickory is definitely a roo. Just look at this guy.
I'm hoping Thistle isn't also a roo. She has an awfully pink comb, but it's totally flat.
Pleaaaaaaaaase be a girl!
It sure is fun to see how the coloring changes as they age.
Here is the little black chick now:
Blackberry:
This one was a chipmunk. Here's Ivy. She has the wildest tufts!
But this completely different looking girl was also a chipmunk. Here's Iris. She is quite a character, feisty and curious.
And this third chick was also a chipmunk. Here's Pumpkin. She's orange. No really. Orange. Not gold. Orange and blue. She is fat and round like a little pumpkin, but she's got the craziest blue beard and back and tail. Don't get between her and her food.
It's amazing to me how those little chipmunk babies are all now so different.
Today they got cottage cheese for the first time. They looked so funny running around with white beaks.
Now DH just has to finish the run so that they can start enjoying some outside time. Okay, now it's time for everyone else to update those photos! I can't wait to see how your babies are growing.
