I believe (no proof to back this up - just seems to work better for me) that shipped eggs do better in cartons. It might have something to do with the air cell - or maybe it is just coincidence.
It's also easier to turn the eggs. (They stay where you put them.) Or you can just put a wedge under the side of the carton and switch it from side to side instead of turning the eggs individually.
Give it a try sometime & see if it makes a difference for you.
