anyone else hatching may 1st

Oh I know! I can't wait and I have to work all weekend while the chickies are hatching! It does not help that I keep getting asked if the eggs are hatching yet, it makes the waiting more unbearable!

This is going to be a long week here as well. Although I will say that the 6 chicks that I bought from TSC have made things somewhat easier. Candled the eggs this weekend. Going to wait until tomorrow night when they come out of the turner to toss the bad ones. None are smelling or oozing. 3 looked pretty clear though.

Same her i had some due yesterday one hatched the others do not have even a pip? So i have no idea whats going on with that there is 5 of them . The rest ae due May 1 and May 2.
I am happy with my one tiny tiny little chick his/her name is erbie stands for earlybird heheheh

It is soooooooooo close!!! We're all getting nerve racked over this wait. To wait 3-4 more days is driving me insane!!!

I can't wait to have a couple of new fluffy butts. More silkies on the way makes me so happy.

Can someone check that I'm correctly understanding what to do for the rest of the week? Is it the case that tomorrow (beginning of day 18) I should stop turning them, crank humidity up to 75% or so, and not open the 'bator lid any more?

Is it ok to open it briefly once a day to refill water reservoirs that I never quite got around to rigging a way to fill from outside; or is today the time to rig such a thing up?

I have them in a plastic egg storage rack but was going to take them out and lay them on their sides on some of that waffle-y drawer liner stuff, is that ok?

Of my 4 survivors (most were clears), two are definitely alive, one has slight mvmt but a weird greenish-yellowish area in most of the translucent part of egg (?!), and the fourth has no mvmt and seems too small for age so I'm thinking it died. Any guesses at the weird greenish-yellowish area (ruptured yolk sac?)? And is it ok to leave the probably-dead too-small-embryo on in there?

Thanks for putting up with me

Yes, anxious here also. I did buy me a hygometer this weekend so will have it for the more critical period. I have been gone for a week so will candle again tonight and then get ready for Wed.'s taking out of the turner. I have two of the twenty-three that will have to be culled tonight for sure, One of those with blood ring and another clear but had left them in until now. Good luck to all hatching this week/weekend.

That's what I've been told. As for opening it quickly to fill the water. If you have to, you have to is my belief. They try to tell you to have another way in your bator to do it. However, if its too late to add an outside way to fill... you're going to have to keep the moisture up at this point.

And yes, stop turning

Good luck!
