anyone else hatching on the 26th?

Congratulations!

I candled and removed 6 quiters. So I have 22 left in the bator and it's on lockdown due to hatch on Tuesday!

The second gosling is out and it's also a GIRL!

She hatched about 2 a.m. this morning. I stayed up waiting for her then was so excited it was another girl I couldn't sleep. I'm so tired right now it's not even funny.

They have both got the longest down feathers I've ever seen. Hopefully that means they'll have lots of long curly feathers when they grow up. Since they were 2-3 days premature, they're kind of on the small side but seem to be doing OK. They've already taken a few sips of vitamin water and are preening each other.

I will post some pics soon.

Well, day 18 has arrived for 15 of my eggs. Took out the turner this morning and placed them in egg cartons. I will still tilt/turn 28 for another day or two (or until I see a pip in anything and then lockdown) for the second group of eggs in the same incubator due on Thursday. I have raised the humidity and waiting for the wonderful hatching experience. This is my second time incubating eggs and these are special, B/B/S americauna, silver maran, cuckoo maran, blue barred rock, BLRW, and austrolorp. I am so excited and want all of them to hatch and progress so badly!! Good luck to the rest of you.

I think mine are cooked.

I had to work from 10am to 11pm yesterday. While I was gone the house temps went up and the incubator was at 104.5 when I got home. I got it back down to 101 after a bit, but one that had pipped and partially zipped was dead in the shell.

This morning the power went out for over half an hour. ??!!!! My power never, ever goes out. It is incredibly stable.

The temps were down to 90 before it got back on (right after I had unplugged it all and was preparing to haul it all to the car. Of course.) Humidity spiked up to 98% while the power was off. Two more had pipped, but then died in the shell. I helped a third out because I couldn't stand it. (I know, I know... bad hatcher!). That one is flopping about drying off at the moment. There are no pips or cheeps out of the rest. I think they are goners.

I'm so bummed. This was my first incubated hatch. I had ordered a 1588, but couldn't get it in time. I bought a 1602 off the shelf instead. It held temperatures great until this last week. This week it has been all over the place! I'm wondering now if I should just suck it up and buy the 1588. Having eggs not developing is disappointing. Having babies die in the shell fully formed is totally heartbreaking! It's just so sad.

Out of 16 original eggs, I threw away 3 that hadn't developed. When I candled on day 17, 3 more were very questionable. The others showed life and the two mille fleurs had movement. It was very cool! Today I have three babies hatched- two ameraucanas and one welsummer mix. The others are just sitting there. Today is day 21. The ones that hatched did so yesterday. No pips. Zero signs of life in there.

Okay, I'm off to stare at the babies that did hatch. I'm trying to decide now what to do with them. When I thought to have half a dozen or more hatch I was going to brood them in the house. Now I'm wondering if I should just sneak them under my mama hen that hatched out her three on Wednesday.

oh i know how you feel my first hatch was 8 cuties out of 9 but this past 3-4- months we had power outages
and I lost a total of 6 BC marens, 11 buff orp. and now these 10 white silkies Ihope I dont lose.
and today is day 21...so they will sit there for another 2-3 days just in case..I have a 1588 bator with automatic turner and its always right on I love it.bought it from Cutlers supply 155.00
plus shipping.

I have 17 eggs that should hatch on the 28th or so ...
mixed batch , not really into designer chickens yet . RI Reds , white leggorns and shaved reds, maybe a black chick or 2 . not sure yet what variety i will have ..LOL..

Well, I guess this group is sitting on the hands and obeying "lockdown" for a couple more days! I anxiously go by occasionally and check for pips, even though I know it is too early. We all hope for early hatches, I guess. Only about 48 more hours!!
