anyone else hatching on the 26th?

Just got home and have 3 babies out and another almost ready to pop out. There is at least one other small pip. Hopefully tomorrow, day 21, I'll have all 15 out and walking around. Then comes the problem of getting them all out for my second round of hatching come Thursday. If I lose any of them from having to open to get out first hatch, I guess all I can do is blame the USPS for taking six days to deliver the package from Georgia to TN.

I think it will all work out. I think they will all be hatched before the other group pips and the humidity will be real high from all the hatching.

Positive attitude.

Today is hatch day here. So far nothing. Not even peeping or rocking eggs but, that is nothing new here. I had plenty moving when I did the last candling before lockdown so hopefully,

, I get something. Everything seemed to go well during incubation.

A drop like that might affect some but not likely all. Here's hoping!

A power outtage dropped mine that low and I went from 10 hatching to six survivors but I was grateful.

Today is 21, the first chick pipped yesterday at 3:30ish and hatched this morning at 5 AM. GO FUZZIES The others appear further behind but there is other peeping in there. This one is either partridge rock, or partridge rock/barred rock, if it's the mix they're black or black with a bit of red. Have to see when he dries out. These are my partridge rock project birds ... holding my breath for a good batch this time. I've eight in the bator and another 21 under two broody PR's.

I think I'm just going to have the 5 I put into the incubator this morning. (I hope they'll be ok - stupid me forgot to towel the condensate off the lid before I raised it all the way, and so they got heavily "rained on" and damp

)

The other 5 eggs still in there have shown no sign of nuthin', although I'll give 'em a couple more days to be certain. I candled them and the air cells seem awful large. I think this time I may have erred on the side of too little humidity overall (although there's been a lot of variation among eggs in air cell size when candled - is that normal?)

And wouldn't you know, even though I was TRYING to only set pure sussex eggs, somehow I apparently had a brain fart and set at least one, probably two, eggs from the campine hen that's in with my sussexes... and of course those are two of the five live chicks. So I may only have 3 actual sussexes out of this.

OTOH it's a lot better than none, and I still have time for a couple more settings this summer.

It is nice to hear peeping from the basement once again

Continued best of luck to everyone else,

Well I have 7 B/B/S Ameraucanas this morning. Looks like at this stage might be 4 blue and 3 black but hard to tell when not completely dried off. Still have hope for the other 8 since this is day 21, but no real visible pips. These came from Dipsy Doodle Doo so know they will be beautiful birds.

I got a little banty cochin splash about 1 am this morning. It's a grey slivery color with tiny feathers on it's feet so cute. I took pics but they don't do justice.

The black looking one I felt needed help. It pipped yesterday around 7 pm and nothing since. I was afraid I was going to loose it. So I gave it a little help by opening up the top. It came out on its own but when I went to remove the shell it was still attatched and it pulled a tad pit of yolk along with it. It had 2 drops of blood drip form where it was attatched. It is jusst starting to move around. It's drying too and appears to be a grey color too but it is a mix of something. Has huge feet. I was talking to them and trying to coach it to get to moving and told the banty to go and wake his bator buddy up and he actually walked over to it and pecked it on the head twice and chirped real loud at it then walked away. Surely a coincadence but it was cute anyway. I have another zipping too and a few more pips. The one zipping is a Blue Orp. I sure hope they are all pullets. I really don't need any roos. I'll keep you updated. Have camera ready and photo bucket up.
