anyone else hatching tonight?

Does anyone know how long it takes for the chick(s) to dry completely? Sherlock hatched around 10 pm last night, and she/he's still not dry. Also, she/he is still bumbling around and very tired. Is this normal? I have no idea, since we've never hatched before.

It takes a while for them to dry in the bator. If none of the other eggs are pipped or in the process of zipping then you can take her out quickly and transfer to the brooder where she can finish drying under the heat lamp. When I do this I also very quickly put a warm damp paper towel over the other eggs and snatch the chick out or when I need to help a chick hatch. This helps keep the other eggs from shrink wrapping.

A hen sits the majority of the first few days the chicks are hatching. This gives everyone a chance to hatch n dry off. Ofcourse, I think the chicks dry faster under a momma hen due to the fluffy feathers she has that they rub against.
