Anyone else have chicks shipping this week?

Seriously, what is up with these chick-pickup delays?! Where are your priorities people? Do not post, do not pass go, get those fluffy butts home! Then post lots of pictures.

Prizma they're adorable! The blue is sooooo puffy, it looks like it's wearing a spacesuit helmet! Thanks for sharing. I miss the baby stage already, though I don't miss the worrying. I worry enough at the 4 week point now....
Oh I know, I am trying so hard to not worry, although I'm pretty confident at this point since this is my 5th batch of raising them from day old. But it's still hard to not worry, there's always something to think about, lol.
Oh! The blue silkie is the first one I laid my eyes on when I opened the box yesterday because it's just the most puffy and fluffy looking one. lol, it does look like it's wearing a spacesuit helmit, lol. I told my husband yesterday, I thought it looked like an Ewok, perhaps if it turns out to be a roo, I may name him that, lol.

I am getting my first shipment of 15 next week. I keep hearing horror stories of dead chicks, and decided to check with the post office to be sure they didn't have the chicks sitting around half the day. Apparently they planned on it! She said she wouldn't want to wake me at seven.

Wow. Precisely why I talked to my PO twice before arrival. I was so happy to be woken by the news as soon as they got there - that meant no time waking up and waiting and wondering as I'd done the day before. They probably wanted to offload my peeping monsters asap as well.

NO worries all! Chicks were in a tub(they are so small!) individually watered and hand fed by 10am!!! Hatch time on the box was 5AM yesterday so PO called me hour 26 and they were settled in by hour 29! Local hatchery is the way to go I think-- Their shipping box wasnt much bigger than a shoe box-- the round tub is about 3 ft diameter I put a mesh window screen on it, my bad dog is locked in the car (and on leash)/ the puppy and blind old dog are snoozing in the back yard-- I cut off the bottoms of 2 cereal boxes and filled them with chick crumbles- and after a bit they all got the hang of it-- they are walking all over the feed a couple are napping in it, but I guess for the first day its just important for them to find the food and figure out how to eat it-- (I have real feeders but I wanted to get them going)-- I put in some electrolytes from TSC (they were out of SAV A CHICK) in the waterer--- its alittle chick one and put it out from the side of the tub so they could all crowd around it they seem to be doing fine--l I do worry whenever they go to sleep they go so limp..they are sleeping inlittle groups of 2 and 3 so I think the temp is good--must be 95 already!
I have a huge box that is 5 ft long by 4ft wide by 4 ft high (I had to cut down 1 side so I could acess the box)ready go but I wanted to make sure they were feeding and drinking well before giving them more room-- they are so little-- am working on setting up a little run next to my other one for them during the day so they can see the 4 Big chicks (they are only a month old) we have...

We ordered from Ideal Poultry, said they will ship7/18 and should arrived at our PO,the 19th or 20th,hope all goes well, can't wait,my. 5yr old daughter has already named them, hope Ideal is. A worthy hatchery /shipper.
Hope all babies make it to their new home in good heath!!:D

I ordered 4 new babies from Meyer Hatchery to add to our flock that we started May 2012. They were supposed to be here July 10 by 3 pm. They didn't arrive as promised. I was almost frantic with worry! We received a call from the post office at 5 am this morning, July 11 To pick them up, we ran right over there. Unfortunately, 3 of our 4 girls had died. I'm so mad at the post office; they rerouted them leaving them sit at the post office in Ohio for 24 hours. Good news is our little survivor, Gloria (named after Gloria Gaynor, she sang 'I will sruvive') is doing really good. Meyer is sending us new chicks next week...... Hopefully I'll have a much happier tale next week!

It sounds like its the rerouting that is a big problem for chick shipping-- I think someone else had a bad outcome when they were rerouted through Ohio (maybe Ohio needs a call) I am so sorry for your loss, and happy for you that you have a healthy strong girl left....
