Anyone else have hatching eggs coming the first week of March? :)

How are things going now? Trying to keep up with the Easter hatch along I really don't have much time for any other threads lol!

It's 7 more days until I will hopefully be a new chicken owner !!! :)

Thanks! You too :)
You should join in on the Easter hatch, it's not just for those who are hatching on Easter... I'm hatching I think 3 or 4 days away. Hard to keep up with though, but im learning quite a bit and its fun.

I got my brooder set up yesterday, I plan to use it the first week or two or if I don't have many ill just continue to use it. It's a 45gallon storage container, soooo excited and nervous! :)

I hope all is well Janet :)

Today is LOCK DOWN day for me!!! :)
Later I will be getting them ready to go into lock down and candle each of them and getting the humidity up. I'm so nervous! I hope some will hatch, last I checked ALL had movement, besides one that is believed to be a quitter.

That sound wonderful! I have a terrible time getting humidity up also, the wood heat doesn't help much either.

Of the 28 I loaded last week+, 18 have swimming dark spots and another 5 I wasn't sure about so they are still in to see if they delevop further.

I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you and the future fluffies!

I'm going to try something I read from HappyChooks here on BYC, wet some paper towels and stuff them into the water channels in the bottom of the incubator. Hoping it helps.

18 is a good number!! :) Good Luck!!

Happychooks has some wonderful advice, I follow the CA northern thread. I'm a mis-placed northerner. I've layed paper towels on the wire for hatching. I also put new sponges on the wire under the vent holes so I can squirt water on them with a syringe without opening everything up.

So far I'm still only about 50% hatching. It would be nice to get 18 out of the shell. I didn't get the trap nesting I had hoped to do, life stuff got in the way, but part of the non-hatchers have a crossbeak look to them. Just as well they aren't hatching.

Still no change for me, zero activity going on in the bator :( hoping to see something happen maybe tomorrow :D

Well I ended up with 14 chicks, 5 silkies and 9 Rhode Island reds. Out of 33 eggs. 22 went into lock down, 1 was thrown shortly after last candling. I did have 10 Rirs but one died :( I tried so hard to save him. Then one of silkies went down quickly I mean walk away and come back and it was star gazing, I immediately doses it with vitamins that I had went to get for the sick rir! I then decided all the chicks were getting a small dose, wasn't taking any chances. Little white silkie is doing good. On top of this my last pipped egg pipped on the wrong end and I didn't know because I was trying not to bother it and became completely dried and stuck in its egg. He was screaming so loudly but I wrapped in warm wet paper towel to wet the membrane and cranked up humidity. Took a while but I was able to free it and is finally with the others and it has a food problem but I'm working on it. Now, all chickies are doing good :) I told everyone I don't think ill ever hatch again because of the devastation but had my s.o's boss give us two dozen eggs and got to see his chickens and realized quickly these eggs had to be fertile, he houses hens and Roos all together. He has the most beautiful largest roo ive ever seen. I got home cracked one open and sure enough they were feerile, so 8 are going into the bator this morning lol I'm a full fledge addict I think :/ but I couldn't pass up this opportunity that landed in my lap for free.

How are things going for you?
