Anyone else have to raise their waterers for Polish?

I set my waterer on a box and it seems it's so much easier for them to drink.

Wish I'd of thought about that sooner.

We do this for the Silkies. The Polish adapted to non-raised waterers quickly. The Silkies always have a tough time though.

But yes, the cresteds and sometimes heavily bearded birds will dip their whole face in if the waterer isn't just right. Then in cold weather the wet parts freeze.

I had to get a taller water bowl and that helped. I have a second one sitting on a cement block too. Biggest help was covering the run so they wouldn't stand in the rain.....poor things.

I guess I just got lucky on this! We've always kept the waterer up on a cinder block, to keep them from scratching too much bedding etc. into it and dirtying it all up. We do the same with the food feeder (it used to hang, but this is easier).

I keep all my waterers on two bricks. Otherwise they get filthy, tipped over and pooped in. Lucky you, only having to do this with the polish!
