Anyone else having a problem with shipping eggs this year???

We also have had horrible luck this year. Out of 3 dozen eggs we have three chicks. Certainly not the breeders fault, not one bit! They actually used
the foam talked about above. They were very nice and sent me more since the hatch didn't work out so well and some how the post office still found
a way to scramble and break a few....

I purchased these off ebay (see link below) and I'm going to give them a try to see if the box is handled any differently. I'll still put the same "live embryos" on the outside that I put on the styrofoam shippers. Maybe it will help with the postal workers not being able to stack anything on top of them. I'll still line the inside with the large bubble wrap and bubble wrap each eggs as I usually do. They ended up costing right at $1.00 each...so not too bad...if it helps!!

I'll post my results on this thread...

well, at least I know I am not the only one. But I really wish we all didnt havt to deal with this problem this year. I certianly hope it improves or we may get so discouraged and stop shipping eggs. I know I am really getting sick of the post office killing my eggs. I just think of all thoes little fuzzy peeps that could have been. but I guess there not peeps but peep potential...but to me its still the same. I'm sad to hear that its happening all around any pray for improvement! All we can do is hope it gets better! Thanks to all who gave imput on the subject. sometimes it makes you feel better to just be able to talk about it and hear others experiences. So thanks all. JEN

I received 38 eggs today (from VA to NC) and the box looked perfect from the outside. All of the eggs arrived beautifully safe and in one piece which is amazing since I actually cracked one writing on it gently with a pencil.

Anyway...will update once I candle next week. I hope the insides are as beautiful as the outsides, but it kind of sounds like that won't be the case.

I received some eggs today, delivered by my mailman, grr. I called the PO annex where my mail goes to my driver and asked exactly what I need to do to avoid this happening again do the following -

have the shipper write on the box:

FRAGILE
LIVE ANIMALS / HATCHING EGGS
HOLD UPON ARRIVAL FOR (insert name here)
CALL FOR PICK UP - (555)555-5555

I cant tell you how many times I have told my post office to hold eggs and I will pick them up! But guess what...they keep commin on the truck with the carrier being bounced around all day! GRRRR

I think it totally depends on the post office and those particular employees.

And yes, I hate post office generalizations. I have never seen as many as I see at this site and, quite honestly, it makes me feel quite unwanted here, but I'm just a stupid, uncaring, box kicking postal worker (according to many here) so what do I know?!
