Anyone else having a problem with shipping eggs this year???

I think it totally depends on the post office and those particular employees.

And yes, I hate post office generalizations. I have never seen as many as I see at this site and, quite honestly, it makes me feel quite unwanted here, but I'm just a stupid, uncaring, box kicking postal worker (according to many here) so what do I know?!

I've often wondered how you feel being kicked around, Asher. I've certainly had my issues with eggs, but I can't say enough nice things about my PO where my birds come in. They know me and just bend over backwards to make sure everything is ok. I always let them know the day before that I am expecting birds and I always get a call the minute they arrive. They've even taken pictures of the birds when I take them out of the box in the lobby of the PO!!

Well...I know people are frustrated. I totally get that. However, slamming the entire post office, calling people stupid, they don't have a brain, yadda, yadda...and that's just on this thread alone...yeah, it doesn't leave me feeling all warm and fuzzy. ;-)

Honestly, if I were not so invested in this board and the members, I would have left long ago. I would never encourage anyone to do anything bad to someones package, but if people treat postal workers like this directly, I am not really surprised about the ones that end up doing stuff. If I was verbally abused by my customers often, I certainly would not be willing to go above and beyond what I am supposed to do, as I do now. And I'm nice. ;-)

I wasn't meaning to offend - what I was referring to was training. My father ran mail in Sparta, NC for years. I was by no means slamming the PO as a whole, just seems there is a lack in training on some things. I have talked to 3 or 4 different people at my annex alone and gotten as many answers as how to get my eggs shipped.

For what is is worth I use the right hand/left hand to describe myself, my hubby and many other things... so totally not a slam.

Hi! I don't have anything but good things to say about USPS as a whole in regard to 'moving eggs'.
If I have an issue with my carrier or a substitute carrier, I call and talk with the carrier supervisor --- and if packages marked 'HOLD & CALL FOR CUSTOMER PICK UP' were being delivered, I'd be on the phone with my carrier supervisor right away.
If I need to call again, I go straight to my PostMaster.

Just like in ANY job..
The post office has good workers and they have bad workers.
Its as simple as that..

We arent trying to offend or "slam" you. We are talking about just the ones that treat packages like dirt........not you.......... like redhen said, there are good and bad workers. Were talking about the "bad" ones.

I totally agree. That's one of the reasons that it irritates me to see them all lumped together in one big generalization.

I love my post office! Granted I live in a very small town and I have to pick up my mail at the post office, but they are always so helpfull and very carefull with my packages at least on my end. I have had no reports of boxes being crushed and to date as far as I know I have only had 1 broken egg out of many dozens shipped and received.

I learned this a few years ago and it still holds true:

If a seller uses USPS Priority Click-n-Ship online & schedules a pick-up of their egg packages (rather than actually taking the packages to the Post Office) the packages are NOT scanned at the original Post Office....This does away with a step the Postal Employee must normally do..hence the reason for the discount given for using this online postage printing service...........

So really, the number on your package is NOT a "tracking" number, it is only a Delivery Confirmation number...... delivery is confirmed, once the package arrives at its final destination.... www.USPS.com will normally NOT show the package throughout the route......If you go into www.USPS.com and attempt to "track" your package with the number provided to you by the seller, it will only show the date that the seller contacted the Post Office to request a pick-up..........

This information can be confirmed through www.USPS.com or by calling their 1-800 number and speaking directly with a USPS associate......
