Anyone else just now starting to "line dry" their clothes outside?

We generally try and start, full time, on Apr 1st. Today was a good start, 78 deg with winds 15-25 mph! We did get a few days this winter to get a few loads outside. Clothes smell a lot better this way and were drying in about an hour to an hour and a half!

I'm waiting on mine to be put back up. We had to put in a new sewer line so we had to take the lines down.....I'd do it myself, but I can never get it tight enough.

LOVE the smell of line dried sheets & towels!
Unfortunately, the pecan, oak & pine trees are in full bloom right now & we are allergic to the pollen, so have to wait another week or two here.

Can't do ours right now or they would be covered in pine pollen .. in about 10 minutes ...

EVERYTHING .. including my lungs .. are covered with pine pollen .. yuck!

Yep, it's time. I'll be dodging the bees and wasps here in just a few minutes to hang my first load out! Love the smell of fresh line dried clothes.

Ohh ! I'm interrested.

What kind of lines do you have, put up?

What are the rules and tricks etc?

Ditto for me... Hadn't thought about doing this, but I don't see why I couldn't. We have a HUGE back yard, but it's completely surrounded by trees on the edges so we don't get a lot of wind (LOTS of sun though). Would I have a difficult time getting them to dry in this situation?

ebwy - Lucky you! We just had the 4th worst winter in recorded history with the amount of snow we got! Very few days in the winter time!
As far as how you get started, depends on how much room you have, how much you want to spend, and tree location are the main things. The poles I used are 3 inch square steel, (They look like this = T ) 5 1/2 feet high with the vertical post being thicker steel than the the top which is 6 ft across. THe poles are spaced 30 ft apart, with 3 lines. This was done at my local welding shop for around $175 and will last forever. We save, on average $20-30 a month on our electric bill and use during the three warmer seasons and occasionally during the winter when possible.
