anyone else NOT eat chicken???

I actually have quit eating it - something about looking at my chickens brings the pangs of guilt - silly i know! Will eat the eggs tho - not a vegetarian but try to eat as little meat as i can

i eat chicken but i dont eat mine if it comes from the store i will eat it i just cant stand eating my pets even tho my dad says that fresh chicken is really good

But I could never eat one of my own birds. I don't think I'm willfully able to associate any animal of mine with food, unless we're talking eggs (not that they're animals). It is my personal choice that my animals have their place on my 'farm', and they never end up in my stomach. They live out their lives naturally until they die of natural causes. My mother is vegetarian and I was for a time, so we have an understanding. My father trys to turn a blind eye and says he cannot understand, but will follow our wishes and not eat our own birds. Even he was veggie for a time (though one would have difficulty believing so...)

We are vegetarian a couple days a week. (Have the goal of meat once or twice a week.)
We like fish very much.
We do not like pork or chicken very much. Eat very very little store bought chicken....

Only can handle pork in the form of ham. (Actually despise pork...The smell of it makes me sick.)

I have always felt people that raise and butcher their own meat will eat a heck of a lot less of it. At least that is the case for us..
My culled birds I give away or grind. A little apple chicken sausage is OK once in a while.

Sorry, but it's my favorite meat followed by turkey and any of the high oil fish.

I'm having 19 or 20 (depending if I let Fox-butt live) CX processed on Friday, and I don't eat any meat other than seafood. my family does though, my kids and my husband do, and I really want them to eat healthy happy meat, which I have provided this time.. next time I'm letting my friend do it for me though, i really really hate raising things to eat. next year we might do ONE turkey... maybe. i love our egg chickens, and the mass stupidity and depressing single mindedness of the CX really makes me sad... not happening again.

We love chicken meat in this house..
but we dont eat our own pet chickens... even if we have to cull them for some reason.. we still cant bring ourselves to eat them.
We may get 'meat birds' some day.... and i'll keep them seperate(in my mind..) from my 'pet' chickens...
Not sure how that will go though..

I also love pork... but i wont eat our pet piggies...
I know..it dosent make sense.. but i somehow keep my pet chickens and pigs seperate in my brain .. i just dont even think of them as food...
Just like i dont think of my dogs and cats as food either...
