anyone else NOT eat chicken???

All vegetarians in this house!

We don't have enough eggs of our own to do our baking. Any eggs that "are" bought are cage-free, fed vegetarian diets.

yes, just because it says cage-free doesnt mean the hens are treated any more humane.

I eat lots of meat, mostly my own birds. Unwanted roosters, old hens etc are put in the freezer. And they sure taste good!

Not to party crash, but seriously? I mean, I eat my own cull Araucanas, whom I treat just as well as my keepers, and they're gorgeous, because are you seriously aware of what the life is like for the chicken you eat at the store?

Even if you give those chickens a good place to live, they still have serious growth and health issues.

Some people can't do it. I don't particularly enjoy it and will happily eat a broiler bird from a store to save time. I do not think it is fair to poke at someone who does not wish to eat their own birds.

AND...I LOVE the taste of broiler meat. Be it from the grocery store or my own back yard. It's good and tender any way you go at it.

I can't be the only one who dosent eat meat...I will eat eggs from time to time but the rest of my family loves the farm fresh chickens. I could not eat one of my own birds. The family can with no prob.just a lot better for them than the stuff in the store... just wondering if their were anymore '' veggi'' chicken lovers out there..?

I do eat chicken, but not my own. I cannot, nor can Ken, get up enough nerve to cull them.

I dont eat chicken from the store. I am very aware of the commercial conditions they are raisied in and i do not agree with it.
I buy my chicken meat from a local supplier who is just like me. His conditions are similar to the high standards i have for my birds. I sell my excess birds and roo's etc live to buyers for them to process at home. I just cant process birds, doesnt matter if they are mine or not. Just cant do it.
Im sure im not the only person out there who cant do it.
I dont have anything against people who can, good on them infact, but i simply cant and id appreciate not being lectured on it.

Big meat eater here, and we eat our own chickens, along with hunting and the like.

I have zero problem with vegetarians, and am supportive of an healthy vegetarian diet. I also will never "sneak" meat or wild game into dished that will be served to those who choose not to eat farm meat or wild game. That's not very nice

(I know people who try to do this).

I figure it's more meat for me!
