anyone else NOT eat chicken???

I'm not a vegetarian by any means, but I'm not terribly fond of chicken. I'll eat it on occasion, but it's not one of my favorite meats.

I used to LOVE chicken... now I am starting to feel guilty every time I eat it!

I kinda wish I hadn't found out what good personalities they have. I could never eat my own chickens, I just don't have it in me to kill something that I have been the caretaker for. My husband and my children are all vegetarian, so I probably eat less meat than a lot of people but I do still like a cheeseburger sometimes. I have already said I will never get a cow, because I don't want to know if they have good personailities!

I gave up meat 10 months ago after learning all about exactly what happens to animals who are factory farmed. I started buying my eggs from a local woman instead of the store. Then, my egg lady moved and I lost my egg source. That's when I decided to get my own chickens and have my own eggs. They have such personality and I love them all dearly! I will have them till they die of natural causes.

That being said: I have no problem with anyone who culls and eats their own birds. To each his/her own. I feel better about that than someone buying and eating chicken from the grocery store.

Personally, chicken is one of my favorite meats. I have yet to butcher any of my own, but that will be coming next year. I freely admit I am cringing at the thought. I know I will be praying for strength the entire time.

I don't hold it against someone who processes their own, nor do I talk down to the ones that don't. We are not here to do that. Let's respect each other and the way we live our lives and raise our animals.

I also will not serve it, and won't purchse it for others to eat.

It is still a definite improvement over battery cages. My goal is not to need to purchase these, either. Give me a few weeks. We'll see how many more females I have from my latest hatch. I need a few more eggs a day in order to not buy some eggs.

Free range eggs aren't necessarily much better. The birds don't actually have to be what we'd call free range -- just access to a minimum of outdoor space.

Actually they just have to have a door open to them. You could have a dog guarding it to keep them in an say they are free range.
