ANYONE ELSE ON HERE IN NORTH EAST PA?

Will, do you pay $7-8/bag for pellets (lay bits)? That's a great deal I think! I looked up feed mills in Tunkhannock but couldn't find any. Maybe they are out of business,,, hope not though!!! I may come up to NY!

We just came through Clarks Summit coming back from Lebanon.I like going the Clark Summit way if we need to use 81,rather than driving all the way up to Binghamton.(nice veiw from Wyalusing Rocks). From you guys you'd go to Wysox on Rt6 and turn on #187/282 to Nichols to get to us.
We pay around $7-8. per 50 lb.bag of York State laying or York State growing mash at a Mill in Owego NY called Ward & Van Scoy(very nice people).
I thought there was a mill out by you in Tunkanak(spelled?) on Rt#6(real close to the road) maybe called Wells Mill that was real reasonable. I love those old mills,I think you get the best value from them.I love that fresh made feed smell. nice chatting,I don't have very many neighbors that are on BYC. Will

Welcome Kgeorge!!! Post some pics everyone!!

Hi ~!~ we are just off of Rt 6 in Meshoppen (between Tunkhannock & Wyalusing)

Here is a picture of the new coop hubby & son finished last summer ~~ Still have to paint the exterior and cover the security fence.

We are using electric poultry netting to let our girls more free range w/control. Working so far.

We currently have 55 blk star hens, plus some blk&wh Japs, cochins, EEs, Brahma, and bantams that free range around our barn area. Also 27 ducks (mostly Rouen & Pekin) on our small pond along with two geese (one Brown Chinese & one Toulouse).

This is the group from last summer, need to take an updated picture of the current residents.

There is a 'new' (been there a few years now) feed store (at an old location) ~ Vern's, in Laceyville. He mixes his own feed. 50 lb layer is $11.00.

Hello!

I'm over here in western PA, Beaver county. North of Pittsburgh, close to Ohio and WV. Would love to find some people over my way too! Sister is over there in Scranton...trying to convince her she needs chickens too!

Just started on my coop, but at this rate I will need another one next year too.

Look at those pics - I miss PA sometimes! I lived in Dallas for 15 years - I used to drive into the Tunkhannock Walmart all the time. I took my rabbits to the Luzerne County fair every year as a teenager. I just love hearing y'all mention all those towns that I know how to pronounce!

Central PA here just outside of State College. I queried CraigsList for a Whizbang Chicken Plucker to rent because I wanted to process my own and found one less than 2 miles away. What did we ever do before the Internet made connections so easy?

I'm over here in Reading. Just moved here a couple weeks ago. Been dying to set up a "meet up group" like we have in NC. I think there are enough people we just need to get together!!
