I'm your neighbor to the north in Colorado and we raise turkeys. I do have an aunt who lives in Arizona, does that count? LOL! My favorite Bourbon hen, Jefferson came from an egg laid by a Porter hen so I kinda sorta have a Porter turkey. We also have Midgets.

I am not is Arizona either. But I do live in the desert. I have never had Porters turkeys until yesterday. I just bought 5 hens. I have never counted but I am sure I have over 20 different colors.

hi farmerlor , how many years you have raising the midget whites
and is it easy to find customers to buy the midget white turkeys
and it true they have better taste than other turkeys

The market where I live is terrible, if it's free or very inexpensive, they'll take them. Most people raise for their own food. I do manage to sell most of my extras but, I am very careful not to hatch too many.
I was recently at the county fair in Douglas and some of the poultry that won ribbons was unreal. Most of them were obviously hatchery birds. We are still kind of back woods country down here but, that is why I live here. I just rode 100 miles on a motorcycle and saw probably 25 cars max.
By the way, Midget Whites are very good eating and you should have much better luck selling them where you're at than I do. I would guess that Mesa's and Chandler's population is about the same as all of Cochise County.

This is only our second year raising the Midgets and they are wonderful birds. I have a waiting list of people who want to buy hatching eggs, poults or adults and I just sold a breeding pair of adolescents for 25 each. Oddly, I get more requests for the Midgets than I do the Bourbons though I have a waiting list for them as well. I sell the babies starting at 10 bucks and they go up as they get older.
Gotta be honest with you and tell you that so far I haven't tasted one of my Midgets. Every single bird has been put back into breeding stock or sold but we plan to cull a couple this fall so I'll have more news for you then.

Fallbrook is about 80 miles away. Did you see the pictures of the blue pencled palm posted on Friday? Thats the turkey I bought. Along with a Red Palm, Blue Palm, Royal Palm and a Sweetgrass.
