anyone else set eggs this weekend!

wondering if anyone else has set any eggs this weekend, as i have given my broody some eggs yesterday (5th april) for her to hatch and would love to compare my candled eggs with someone elses!! (in like a week when there is something there to candle!)

Hi there! I set some eggs Friday! I'd love to compare, although, many of mine are very dark marans eggs. I also have some EE/Marans mixes in there that I can see in.

What eggs did you put under your broody?

hi great that someone answered! ahh okay, i have 2 blue laced wyandottes, 1 silver laced wyandotte, 1 rir, 1 white cochin, and 1 chocolate orpington. they're all bantams! i dont know how well my candling will work out as i'll have to do it outside when my broody is out feeding for a few minutes

are yours in an incubator?

What a great little mix of eggs! That's going to be an adorable bunch of chicks!

Yes, mine are in an incubator. I've never tried to battle a broody hen to get to the eggs to candle! LOL You're pretty brave!

Yeah i like a good bit of diversity! First time im hatching chicks well i let her out of her little coop (in which she refuses to poo, eat or drink) every morning for about 10 minutes so i'll have a bit of time with the eggs!

ive done a bit of candling (too excited!!) and (by the way the eggs are shipped) have found that i have atleast one egg with a saddle air cell, some quite porous ones with a very bright spot on the pointy end - any explanation for that bright area?? and some that seem normal to me... although i am a newbie to hatching, but i have done some research, how could i not!?
